I think the fundamental problem with most antags is you cannot train with them. You can get acquainted to gear in a private server, but actual training and veterancy isn’t really possible to achieve.
Mindshielding could use being less mindless yet expensive, tough.
your counter is that you are, in fact, a cultist, with a one tap stun and 30 damage sword. Just convert or kill him.

you can always use surgery
So is monkification and mutadone which is faster.
A cult way to break mindshields instead of gibbing opens up oportunities for better play
The nature of mindshields and how easy they are to mass distribute makes cult rounds really one sided. If a cultist is captured, deconverted, and shielded, then the cult have lost a permanent member because it’s far harder to remove them than it is to implant them. If I could have it my way I’d have the strength of the stun spell not respect mindshields, instead becoming less powerful as the cult ascends to halos, and make the offer rune destroy mindshields after a time.

a ward spell could be a nice anti-tider measure that tells the caster when someone crosses it
it’ll still require people to actually think about their cult bases, though.
