As a Non-Antag Scientist, Used an artifact to remove a borg from their shell, drag them through the halls and into science before disconnecting trapping the Borg. This is an explain on forums ban to have appealed.
Appeal Reason:
I am still very much new to scientist let alone ss13 in general, it was my 3rd time playing scientist and first time researching artifacts. When the round started I went into the artifact room and there was a talking artifact, I didn’t even know ai could be placed inside of artifacts. I carried the artifact around because respawning as a sentient artifact tends to be boring because you can’t move so I wanted to give him something to do and I did make an effort to remove him from the artifact but the wiki doesn’t go into any detail on how sentient artifacts work or what they do / are.

The only thing wrong i could see myself getting banned for was logging off in the middle of nowhere, however the artifact at that point had stopped responding to me after 10 - 15 minutes so i assumed that he himself had logged off during the interaction

I know it feels like it, but you were not banned for being inexperienced alone, but primarily as a R15 Violation

The issue with NOT doing so, is that when issues occur, made of malice, inexperience, or bad luck in bug discovery, we as admins have NO way to discuss what happened with disconnected parties beyond sending them to the forums.

As for the situation itself, its understandable, you’re new and didnt understand what was going on given how overwhelming artifacts, let alone the game can be.

Sentient Artifacts are inhabitable by ghost’s - Hollow Artifacts are capable of trapping people inside them.

You had originally found the former, a ghost had willingly inhabited the original artifact you did most of your interacting with. However at a certain point that player had left, leaving you alone. This is about when you ran into I4N a borg at the Art Storage, managing to capture them using the Hollow Trait, then dragging them around treating them as if they we’re the original artifact. From the other players POV, they mention to you not to test dangerous artifacts then are kidnapped, unable to move as they (due to a bug) weren’t returned to their body, causing them annoyance, you missing their comments about wanting to be set free, and them not responding to yours making you think they left, causing you to do similar.

I do see you were on an arc, going to put down the other artifact after what had happened with it, and wanted to develop your story further, but as soon as the original soul in the artifact was gone, replacing it with a crewmember/borg and carrying on as a non-antagonist can be problematic and need addressing.

Im willing to acknowledge you probably didn’t have ill-intent and/or understand the issue before you disconnected, but continuing to do so without taking the proper steps to leave will continue to create issues which get increasingly harder to give benefit of the doubt for. Especially when you we’re spoken to earlier that same day about using Cryo-Pods

You just needed to appeal this with cause to have it unbanned, so the report is accepted and ban lifted
