I was in this round from roundstart as Niltryx, so I was present for H.O.R.I.Z.O.N’s arrival as Captain over comms all the way to when I boarded the shuttle not too long before it departed. I will say that while H.O.R.I.Z.O.N’s general speech over comms was provoking/inciting, it was done so in a more roleplaying and joking manner, to a degree. For example, I quipped over Common that he was unqualified as Captain (after he made an announcement over how a statue of him must be built), and he then ordered me to be killed by firing squad, where it was joked that it wouldn’t be much of a firing squad due to there only being a singular officer, etc., and it tapered off from there. Relatively tame despite the outlier remarks.
During transit on the shuttle from the station to CentCom, I’m near the middle of the shuttle when I see H.O.R.I.Z.O.N run out of the Cockpit down south, with a borg chasing after him and attacking him. I distinctly remember F.U.M.S, who was carded and on H.O.R.I.Z.O.N, saying something along the lines of, “Great, you’ve got my borg going after you now,” which is why I was under the impression that F.U.M.S didn’t outright send the borg after the Captain, and they instead got provoked by something the Captain did. Of course, F.U.M.S could’ve ordered the attack via binary chat, that’s some clarification that logs and @NotASpineTaker’s testimony would help out with a lot.
Regardless, it seemed that F.U.M.S had largely been making provoking remarks towards the Captain (I say this because of what I’ve heard and how I know F.U.M.S as a character to speak). This started off with them saying the Captain should be deposed, before escalating to (and this is according to Cobrador via the Beecord) daring the Captain to wipe them. According to Cobrador’s testimony, they had carded the AI from its core in Departures (and left the core there) to ‘bully’ them after they had called for their deposal, and they were likely arguing in the Cockpit.
As the Captain is getting attacked, they (according to testimony) press the button to wipe F.U.M.S, and then get downed by the borg and die. F.U.M.S continues talking afterwards for a short while before they get wiped, since the wiping process takes a moment. Then the round ends with docking immediately afterwards.
@pixelpoepleman was Sleep as the sole Security Officer, so they may have witnessed more. Additionally, they were also heavily involved in the discussion on the Beecord that followed the round.
This report itself was made following a group discussion between the three of us mainly on how it would be best to put this up for staff review regarding the rules. It calls into question how professional exactly the Captain is always expected to act (in relation to character personality), and whether this escalation went too far when F.U.M.S ended up getting wiped.
