Incident Description:
The Incident ()
First of all, I never got to see much of Mason throughout the round. He might’ve been off doing his own thing, which is fine (though I have seen Mason go afk for extended periods of time before), though it was a bit strange to almost never see him, especially on this lowpop.
Anyways, the shuttle was arriving. All the lights were out, as the SMES had been destroyed and the supermatter was gone due to the nightmare. A few crew members were heading to the shuttle, including me (Sugar), the RD, and Mason. I don’t remember the exact situation, but the Nightmare begins attacking the RD after some minor instigation. I don’t remember if Mason fired first before even being attacked or not, but apparently (according to Ruko ), he had two guns on him and began firing at the Nightmare. I’m just curious why he even had these weapons as an assistant with a secoff on the station and an RD who was actively holding a saber in the vicinity. (rule 2)
As for the rule 1 violation, I’m not too sure since I don’t have all the info, but this is what I’ve gathered. This is all during the shuttle approaching period. I had just revived Mason out of critical from off the ground, though both of his arms had been cut off. The RD is slaughtered by the Nightmare and also has her arms cut off, as well as being killed with 200+ brute damage. I apply gauze to both and bruise packs to Mason, bringing the RD to the chapel (closest place I could think of with a table). Mason walks in on me in the chapel. I am clutching the naked, deceased RD on one of the chapel tables, trying to perform surgery so I can bring them back to life. Mason starts pestering me about his arms mid-surgery, asking me to reattach them, and he argues for a bit about himself being higher priority despite the fact that the highest-ranking crew member on the ship was lying mangled right in front of him. Eventually he leaves after saying “I can’t live like this”, and I never see him again. I later check my crew monitor just a few minutes later to see him with high brute/burn (likely space exposure). At first, I was extremely curious as to how he died so soon after I let him go, and I wasn’t even sure where he went despite the shuttle being close to arriving.
What I heard from Ruko (who was playing the Nightmare) is that he warned Mason about the spaced area, and Mason proceeded to go into it. I’m not sure if this was just a strange suicide for something as minor and fixable as missing arms, or just an accident.
I don’t remember if my overhead chat worked when I tried to warn them or not. It’s entirely possible they didn’t see the warning. Given the direction and location they may have been heading to cryo after failing to convince the doctor (you) to help them.
At least by the point they shot at me, I was an established threat to the station and the security officer was SSD in maints (which is why the officer isn’t one of the people I mention having defended myself against)
I’m not sure exactly when the guns were acquired, but I don’t mind that they had them.
I’m not sure if Mason knew the officer was SSD at the time, and the rules say it needs to be a “direct threat/attack” in order to gear up in advance (which the nightmare hadn’t been attacking him or anyone indiscriminately iirc). I do get your point though!
What? This is a issue? I was trying to cryo because I was tired and armless. The path to cryo was spaced, I was dying, and airlocks were shut tight. I logged off. Are you really going to pick on the armless guy because he was tired, armless, and didn’t want to play anymore?
No, this is what I’m trying to point out that I suspected to be the case.
I think this is the part they cared about.
Why and when did you acquire the guns you had? I don’t have an issue with it personally but I also can’t handle the report as an admin since I’m the one that got shot at.
I think I was deputized? Some rounds are memorable and I can tell you exactly what happened that round was a nothing burger and all I remember was getting my arms removed at the end, and trying to cryo but being frustrated at airlocks and spaced sections of the station. I’m certain if I thought I were breaking the rules when I did it that it would’ve stood out in my memory so I really think I was deputized or something.
Edit: After thinking about this the station was black out dark, out of power, space holes, and a shadowling running around. And this isn’t good enough justification to get guns? Nahhh c’mon stop clownin’.
I just didn’t know the full story, so this is okay! Don’t get pugnacious, please. From my perspective, I never saw you for almost the entire round until the end when you start unloading guns into the nightmare who isn’t attacking you, get your arms cut off, and then die in space only a few minutes before the shuttle arrived
Alright, so a nightmare goes havoc on the station, plunging it into darkness, the lone sec and command is unable counteract it so a crewmember gets ahold of a gun and tries to help out. In doing so he looses both of his arms and then decides to cryo because he has had enough of the round, but dies in doing so because the cryopods were spaced. I don’t really see any issue here, even if the nightmare hadn’t even begun tearing the station apart I would still shoot it if I had a gun and stumbled upon it, since it is a shadow monster with a big fucking sword for an arm.
Either way, thank you for the report, while the dying in a spaced area seems a bit sus, it was in an attempted to go cryo - but the smarter option in that instance would probably have been to ahelp and ask to be cryo’d - but it is fine either way.
