Rules Broken: Be Eggcellent To Each Other

Incident Description: After having some battles with ashwalkers for some IC conflict, they spawnkilled 2 lizards (this I’m not 100% sure) and then moved the eggs to an area surrounded by lava so no more lizards could spawn. Looks like he also put lava in front of the ashie doors so they couldn’t get out

Ashwalkers are a known hostile threat to station operations, and are likewise permitted to be hostile on sight to outsiders.

This seems IC to me - the two sides of this conflict are ultimately destined (and intended) to fight over lavaland until one side is destroyed or gives up.

There is no way to destroy the eggs if they don’t fall into the chasm so this is the next closest thing and completely understandable to do with them.

I think instakilling people that just spawned is not a good thing to do and just cuts players from playing the game. Ashies had a nice community that round and they got whiped by a mech and then put surrounded by lava. I don’t think how this is IC or not a dick move

The eggs are normally destroyed as part of the conflict, I don’t see this as any worse, especially since players are shown where they will spawn before they do. The escalation between Ashwalkers and crew is a very rare case of “kill on sight is okay” for both sides (they have the same murderbone/hostile combination as nukies and a language barrier to boot), so it’s pretty rare for a conflict to go beyond being IC.

The fact Ambiic was an engineer is what stands out the most to me here. In any case I’m leaving this for someone else to look at logs and read into the context.

@Ambiic should give anything from their point of view they think is relevant too

How many details should I add? I’ll skim through it to begin with.

DAGD Syndicate with objectives to also blow up the HoP office and kill a Scientist. The station objective is to construct a BSA and figured that’d be a fun thing to make and then to use near the end to blow up more or less the entire station. It’d be a glorious finale. The round carries on and I see the ashies, they don’t harm me and only hiss at me a few times. I tell them to “shoo” and we generally avoid each other. I built a short lava moat around the Quantum Hub I was working on just in case they had any funny ideas. Eventually I get down there and see my mech with three filled plasma canisters (for the TEG I was about to make) was gone. I go looking for it thinking someone on the station had taken it until I see the ashies had taken it. I then return and talk to Varo, the Clown who had taken the Captains ID without a vote, asking them for help. They aren’t of any help at all, from what I understood they wanted me to cut my loses and call it a day. I was determined to complete my objective and make the Lavaland BSA. I constructed a second Ripley with the last iron we had and sent on down to Lavaland. I opened up the door to the ashies and saw one in full armour and started blasting. They put up a fight but couldn’t get in the mech they had stolen from me so it wasn’t that fair. I wiped them, cuffed them and epi’d them. Then I brought them back to the station, by the time I got back down to fetch my first mech, more had appeared and now it was a 1v1 Ripley battle. My aim didn’t fail me and I eventually took them down without destroying either mech. Not wanting to risk more incidents, I continued wiping other ashies that I saw. I brought with me around three of their dead corpses to the station. Out of those five I brought up, Varo revived and sent down again.

My memory is a tad fuzzy around this section. Eventually I got both mechs back into the Quantum Hub and finally locked them, then I got moat up again so they couldn’t waltz in there easily. I have no idea where their RCD went in all of this chaos. In the final fight, I noticed their door was opened, I tried to drill their eggs to destroy them but I couldn’t so I picked them all up and placed them on a tile surrounded by lava. The specific spot is where the tip of the canon was to be placed.

To summerize an already summerized chain of events.
The ashies and I had a lot of conflicts, by the end of it I was tired of their interruptions to my work and decided to finish it once and for all. I didn’t start the war, but I finished it.

I’d like to highlight that the group of three ashies I brought to the station, were all soulless by the time I got there. I suspect a lot of them just took another egg as soon as they died.

I did this and intentionally left one tile of rock on their side so it’d be possible to easily by-pass which they did. At the time I was quite certain they had the RCD too. So they had methods. Not to mention like three other paths to mine out of as well.

Have some related pictures I did take.

Hello, and thanks for reporting this!

After reading through this discussion and the logs, I’m going to reject this report for a few reasons.

First, as Ruko mentioned earlier, ashwalkers are hostile to the crew. That does not mean that there has to be immediate murder from either side, but its on the table provided there is a good reason in-character for it to happen.

Second, going through logs, there was buildup between the engineer and the lizards. Conflict happened, and things naturally went from there.

Third, people who spawned in after moving the eggs knew what they were getting themselves into, and the situation itself was fairly escapable (and they did eventually escape).

Overall, I don’t think this was the best course of action, but it was a reasonable thing to do for the character at that time. Naturally, this does not protect them from IC consequences, this is a pretty good case for prime murder.

In terms of the rule broken, I don’t see anything that would bleed into OOC or could be interpreted as such.

Thank you for reporting this regardless! I can totally understand how this could be seen in a bad light without the proper context, so I hope this clears things up! Have a good rest of your day!
