Incident Description: During a shift on Echo, Taylor Fisher was kidnapped by Milli and some second person to lavaland. As i was then making a tesla bounty for cargo, me and captain witnessed him getting dragged off. I suggested to the captain to call over the one officer on board - Zoey - and go get the quartermaster. After a moment he said that the officer won’t come. Here i’m not sure if it was by zoey’s choice or if the captain just failed to communicate properly, as it was their first shift as a captain. After 20 minutes, that was dealt with and Taylor decided to hang Milli’s body on a noose in the corridor as revenge for the torture and humiliation they put him trough, which I believe he had all the reason for in character. When me, Taylor and a few other people were standing around the noose and talking, Zoey Bould came up to me, and said simply “WIRE CUTTER NOW!!”. I attempted to ask “what for” but about as soon as i was done typing, they already started stripping my belt off, barely giving me 5 seconds to react. When i then got angry that a security officer was trying to steal from me on Green alert (admittedly the station was in a really bad shape and the captain was dead), they said “GIVE IT ME NOW” after which the baton went into action. After i got stunned and cuffed, Zoey stole my tool belt (which they then refused to give back despite the station being in desperate need of repair) and after a brief visit to the blown up brig, threatened to send me to the gulag.
Prior to this i would say that our interactions in the round were more or less friendly so to me it really came out of nowhere. I believe that they should have at least said what they needed the wirecutters for, seeing as i didn’t connect the dots, and considering that an already dead body on a noose is not very time sensitive, not even mentioning just telling the engineer themselves to cut the noose down instead. Of note is also the fact that they stole the full toolbelt of upgraded tools for their personal use as a security officer, refusing to give it back, obstructing any repairs.
Additional Information: I’m making this report in the heat of the moment, so there’s high likelyhood that it may just be salt, but getting a second opinion is one reason i’m posting it. Hopefully it’s not just emotions.
Could they have asked you to cut him down? Yes
Were they sort of an asshole? Yeah
Is this a breach of the ‘you must roleplay rule’? Not in my opinion.
They came off strong and because you did not understand what they were asking for (which is pretty obvious in retrospect) they tried taking the wirecutters themself.
I don’t really see anything akin to an OOC issue here, especially if the grounds for this report are the roleplay rule, as they were screaming about wirecutters to cut the hanging corpse infront of them down presumably to enforce the law properly.
Out of courtesy to you as I picked this report up pretty quick, I’ll get some more opinions before I decide on closing this, but don’t get your hopes up.
i feel this also more of a rule 7 violation: be exellent to each other.
if as they said its green alert a security officer shouldnt just scream : WIRE CUTTER NOW!,
with no explenation and then after a reasonable ask as to why they need them ( still green alert) afetr which they dont tell them and just begin stripping them.
then porter understandable gets angry and they abuse their sec gear instead of saying why they need it and even tried to jail him but didnt because the jail was broken.
i feel this is a abuse of a security officers power and not really roelplay too, its jsut being an arse for no good reason. if it were red alert and there was soemthgin critial goign on than thats woudl have been fien but not when their are no stakes or reasons to just ebign abel to explain or just strip them when they dont immidtily give you stuff.
(i am just goign off as to what is presented here)
The reason it was green alert appears to be because the person in charge of changing the alert was dead. This reads to me as the circumstances being quite stressful.
If you are staring at a person dangling in a noose and someone asks for or mentions wirecutters, it is pretty clear what they want them for. Sometimes people can be spaced out or distracted, but it is reasonable to assume people would know why you’d be asking for the tool to cut down the lynched corpse standing next to the lynched corpse.
security being assholes can be IC, I draw the line when it is clear that their actions are specifically intending to spite other players, like wordlessly arresting someone and sticking them in for the absolute maximum timer when the situation doesnt otherwise warrant it.
In the context of a ‘shit is blown up, the captain is dead, the guy I need to revive and arrest is lynched infront of me’ situation, I think yelling and rushing people/trying to do it yourself is IC.
