ipc death is more like being unconscious allready… so makes no difference

anyway just let them plate themselves cosmetically with different materials i guess.

Why not though? iirc it’ll still be easier to revive using a cyborg reboot board than using a defib.

Requiring a little more health to revive means nothing because someone else can heal an IPC of lots of health in a second.

ipcs dont need to be defibrillated already.

I am quite a big fan of IPCs being a disposable, easy-to-repair playstyle.

literally make golem give it mutation toxin… they are now slimeperson.

Currently they’re too easy to repair. Someone carrying around a Borg reboot module would require IPCs to be revived by specialists like almost every other race.

So IPCs
Integrated positronic chassis, also known as TV heads.

Benefits

  • Aesthetic TV head capable of changing looks, you stand out.
  • They can heal brute damage with a welder and burn with a cable coil.
  • Can be field revived with a welder and cable coils.
  • They stand out due to their TV head.
  • They do not require a head to live due to their brain being located in their torso
  • No need for eating.
  • Immune to cold and do not need to breathe.
  • Cannot process any reagents except special IPC reagent.
  • Immune to most diseases.

Drawbacks

  • Cannot perform CPR due to lack of breathing.
  • Cannot be cloned, incompetent Roboticists will borg you instead of reviving you.
  • Take almost 2x burn damage, capable of being critted in 4 welder hits, along with having a 1.3 brute modifier.
  • You stand out without a helmet.
  • Cannot process any reagents except special IPC reagents.
  • EMPs will deal 20 - 60 brute damage and stun you for 10 - 20 seconds while dislocating random limbs (including your head).
  • Need to stand still for a few seconds to heal with a cable coil or welder.
  • Heal slowly unless someone else is healing them.
  • You will be killed by most conversion antags due to the difficulty of keeping you around.
  • Revenants can EMP you and kill you.

I was told by a Maintainer that I am not allowed to make the change to let borg posibrains be inserted into IPC chassis, and frankly, I agree with them. Full respawns are something Bee is not ready for.

infact i have a gimmick as xenobio of respawning people and renaming them and giving them race change drugs.

Golems are also a similar issue, and they agree it’s an issue. Thing is, golems are slow, can’t use guns, and can’t wear most things.

they are from chem thus they are drugs.

IPCs lost their 1.3 brute mod a while ago. And EMPs don’t dislocate limbs, they only call emp_act() on them.

This summarizes everything wrong with IPC’s.

I fundamentally disagree with much of that post, and saying “X is wrong with ipcs” isn’t something of value in this post. This post seeks specific additions or changes that would improve the IPC experience for the player and those around them.

I don’t realistically know how i’d handle ipc overheating with sprites because of how shoddy limb code is. Clocky chassis though? Sign me up.
