This SOP, along with the SOP on this page, applies to Security staff: Head of Security, Warden, Security Officer, Detective, and Brig Physician.

While a brig physician is a “glorified doctor,” they are still a PART of security. There was also no command to escalate threat levels, despite a blatant antagonist running through the main halls and shooting people.

The antagonist in question bought nothing but a stealth implant and a gun, as far as I was aware. He hacked an auto lathe to print out a large amount of ammo for his gun. His objectives were to steal an ID and armor, and it seems like there was no command to even defend those objectives, so why would he need murder-bong equipment? He then ran around shooting people in the general hallways, including myself, and his escape was going invisible and walking around through the main halls. His excuse of going invisible gives him a valid reason to “escape.” After he did this a few times and I realised that there was no acting command or security, being a brig physician who works for security, I assumed that I would fall into the category of a security officer. and while I did search for him in the general areas, I didn’t hunt him down in places that were not public access; I didn’t even use maintenance access to find him. He could have easily walked into an inaccessible place for me to go, and the only time I did gain access to places off limits was to put him into a jail cell after reviving him, trying to follow the security chain of command.

Additional Information:
If he had simply gone into places I didn’t have access to or maintenance, I would have stopped pursuing him, but he stayed in public areas like the main hallway and dorm bathrooms, shooting people and pretending his stealth implant made him invisible like a child wearing sunglasses while no command or security responded.

I constantly try to stay within the permitted laws and rules as I understand and find them. I’ve had antagonizers approach me and crit or kill me, steal all my belongings, and then go through chain of command to resolve the issue. Sometimes that same person will continue to come back and kill or harass me throughout the round, and since I only act within self-defense, I don’t actively go hunting for them every round, even when security or command die off. I understand the rules are so strict around valid hunting, but am I really supposed to just let an antag repeatedly swoop in, shoot me, walk away, and do this while there are no higher ups to respond? If so, I will just lie down and accept that my character has absolutely no will to survive or self-preservation and go into cryosleep out of frustration or die. Because if that is how restrictive escalation, SOP and expectations of crew is even when they are an officer of security then that’s all any one can do.

Keep in mind that for your encounter with them, you flashed them first, I found no evidence of them trying to harm you. They did however fire their weapon in the open, they weren’t murderboning or acting randomly though, they were trying to kill their target before healing themselves and trying to get their hands on the reactive armor.

So I was there, a traitor doing tot things and you, appearing seemingly out of nowhere to arrest them as brig phys, your saylogs revealing nothing about character or relevant events that may have led to this development. Only that you were shot, which again, happened after you tried to perform a citizen arrest.

I however didn’t consider that you may have been present when they assassinated their target in the open. I have nothing to prove that, but it is a possibility. Given that you were placed in a difficult position due to lowpop and that you may, potentially, have had partial IC reasons to jump in. I will reduce this to a warning. However remember this:

The brig phys is a member of security, but he is not a security officer, he is a civilian and lacks the authority necessary to enforce Space Law.

You must RP and you cannot RP without interacting with others. I’m willing to bet that had you put more effort into your character and in your interactions, I would have had an easier time processing this report, piecing out together events and deducing your intentions.
