Ban Reason: Severe greytiding as part of a “cult”
Appeal Reason: I genuinely thought almost everyone (enough for it to matter) informally agreed to do a meme round, so after I saw a bunch of the different departments deciding it was a nations round, after the pre-round ock begging for a meme round, I joined the chap’s cult about a third of the way in and generally helped with whatever he was doing. Unbeknownst to me, not everyone was on board with or aware of it being a meme round, and thus I got banned.
It was an honest mistake, and I obviously wouldn’t do something like that on a normal round.

So here’s the round from my perspective
The previous round has ended and the admins are finally back online. People are begging for meteor round, NO WAIT, ALL ANTAGS, NO WAIT, MAKE EVERYONE START IN THE BRIG type suggestions. A couple of votes are held, I go use the restroom, wow the round still hasn’t started. Ready up and assume it’s going to be a meme round, or something obscure like clock cult.
Round starts, I’m lawyer. Sucks that I’m in the butt awful purple suit but it’s good that I get to make sure we don’t have a shitsec round. Oh it’s greenshift? At this point iirc I just milled about the sec/brig area getting my bearings on the situation, played some loud music and got stuff stolen, but that may have been a different round. I think it was the bridge that first decided to secede, then the silicons, though they made a more formal announcement later. I hear the chap on radio call out for people to join, I think another dept may have seceded, I don’t really remember too clearly. At this point, with nothing to do, I head out to look around, offer myself up as a lawyer to any nation who needs one, and head to med to continue seeing what’s up. It’s at this point, about 1/4th or 1/3rd into the round, that I see the chap (and a few others including the clown) begging the previously brigged mime to join him. I’ve got nothing better to do, and with everyone and their dog forming nations I assume this a round where it’s ok to get into group shenanigans and join up. with 2 new members (the mime and I), the chap gathers us up and declares, TO SEC!
At this point I have no idea what we stand for other than an undying obedience to our leader but it’s all in good fun, (and rare to see) so of course I open as many doors as I can to let our 5-6 strong cult into the brig (an assistant wasn’t in robes and the clown had on white robes instead so I think it was 5). I attempt to let them into the lockers to gear up, when a borg who is following bolts me in. Some stuff happens I don’t recall, I stay stuck in the locker room, Sec is of course first surprised and tensions are high, but I think they cooled down and sec was fine with it by the end. The chap had cuffed someone then went afk, the 4 others (the new leader, the assistant, the clown and the mime) made it to where the weapons were, and got me out after (non violently) arguing/tussling with the medborg a bit. A sec showed up who was a late joiner and I of course to protect glorious leader told it was fine, and it was fine. As far as I know at this point nothing of actual harm or consequence happened, and so I was freed and we all geared up. The clown got his armor, the assistant stayed in assistant gear, and I and the leader stayed as much in the cult gear (followers of the chap set) as we could while still gearing up and we set off, leaving the afk chap behind. I myself got a sec belt, sec glasses, pepper spray and some cuffs, and a disabler, my main weapon of choice being the pepper spray (as it’s both unique, practical, and non-lethal, and easier and more effective than a baton or flash, and it’s more fun because you get to make seasoning and flavor jokes). I also swiped the secmobile. Thusly armed, we set off for regions unknown.
Turns out regions unknown meant science. The new leader, Gerald something or other, said nothing of his plans, but clearly he wanted into science. So, I turned on my new and trusty baton and smacked the window of R&D. Unfortunately we hit a small snag: a wild beepsky appeared and tried to arrest me! Thankfully my brothers (mostly the leader with his shotgun) destroyed it, uncuffed me, and we were let into science by a way I didn’t see but which was probably some guy just entering or exiting, and we were in. I was unsure of what our plan was, but it was exciting. We were finally making our (unknown to me) move! (quick note, I never instigated anything except the smack on the window, it was always the leader or someone else who took the initiative, I was having fun just playing along. Every cult needs lackeys, every supervillain needs goons.) I can’t recall which was first, but we got access to the R&D room (the one that opens to the hallway) and aprehened the scientist there, then another who we saw in the halls. (I think) the leader started to attack him lethally, and I helped, relishing my first time able to harmbaton in this game, literally ever. Eventually my stick ran out of power when I tried to help us get into the robo room (to charge and maybe make robos or something, my guy is ethereal and I just wanted to help) I realized it was out of power, and the assistant helped by lockpicking the door open. Understandably people were going “wtf” at all this, and I think we subdued one more guy, found another of whom the leader said “he’s not the right one” (or something like that), I helped with my pepper spray and my disabler, and eventually the RD came along. This, I think, was what Gerald was looking for.
We stunned the RD, (I got to use more pepper spray while shouting SAVOR THE FLAVOR), and he got the RD tied to a chair. The RD demanded information saying, “answer me you mute son of a bitch!” To this our leader had but one thing to say: “This place is ours now.” The RD was having none of it, and he told us (in an ic way of course) that we couldn’t do stuff like that, to which the Leader replied, “we are holy.” (The ic way was telling us to enjoy the wrath of God iirc). At this point I started chanting WE ARE HOLY, WE ARE HOLY over and over to add to the WTFactor, the round ended, and I was smote by an explosive drop pod (which I noticed but stood under due to it being a fitting and memey end to our escapades.
So the round had ended, the leader killed the RD and then tried to kill me (he had a flamethrower or something), the drop pod dropped and exploded, and I went to explore. Lord Singuloth had appeared, and was busy vore succing the entire station to bits. Somebody mentioned having set it to PT one and that lord singuloth clearly had other plans. A memey end to a memey round I thought to myself. Then the screen went dark (aka everything stopped rendering) and I assumed the game had crashed. Maybe it did, maybe that’s when I got banned, I’m not sure. Before that though, I got Bwoinked, told the admin the TL;DR of this

After this I chilled for a bit, made that thread I linked at the start, and assumed I would get unbanned because I had mistakenly assumed it was a meme round.
A note on my behavior specifically: Never did I instigate (even the window smack was an attempt to help the idea of getting into sci), never did I escalate (either to actual fighting or to lethal response), and always did I assume that this was going to be a meme round where shenanigans were allowed. Yes I did do several things that are against the rules. I’m not denying that; in fact I just listed them all out for you. What I’d like to point out is that I was under the impression that these actions were fine, just this once, as a previously given rule (no cargonia/nations type stuff) was broken by several high ranking, independent parties. The point of the cult, at least from my view, was not to cause mass mayhem or kill as many as possible, but to follow the leader and probably get as much renown and power for ourselves as possible. A mini, cult-nation if you will, just like any of the others I assume had formed. Even the AI, head of the silicon nation, was saying he would take revenge on the head of sciencia, then law justifying it over comms.
TL;DR:
Assumed it was meme round due to pre-round “make it a meme round” begging. Saw several nations form in high ranking places, ended up joining the chap’s cult. Chap went AFK so we got a new leader, we loaded up from the armory, and ended up taking over the science department. Not once did I ask the leader or the chap what plans we had, not once did I instigate or escalate anything the chap or the leader did. I wrongly assumed that most of the station was going to meme or was fine with memeing as well, and only learned I was wrong after the fact. Obviously I would never act this way in a normal round.
TL;DR for the TL;DR: I thought it was a meme round, turns out it wasn’t. It was genuine and light-hearted mistake, unban plz?
Also a week is really long when my only other offense (besides an ick ock I don’t remember) was a “didn’t read the hidden rule revisions” ban for less than an hour
