Incident Description: ghost searched lavaland, turned into a beach bum, rushed to the station to grab food then back to lavaland before using gluttony’s blessing and proceeding to eat the entire armory (which he headed for first) and attacking officers.

Additional Information:
This whole thing is a mess because the rules are atrociously unclear on it -

Upon the morph doing this type of stuff, I asked an admin “it’s not allowed to self antag as a gluttony morph right?” to which they responded that it is, because RM1.2 - in a rather long discussion in ahelps.

I then later get dmed regarding this matter, being told explicitly that, no, it IS self antag and that a lot of people just get it confused -

SO, the goal of this topic is also to both advertise the fact that “morph eats everything is self antag LOLE” and that there should REALLY be a rules classification AND a blurb in game when you get turned into a glutton morph saying you still are a crewmember and that you can’t self antag unless you were an antag.

The issue is that the admins are split on this matter themselves: Morph was always a “self-antag” in a way and it is coded to behave as such. MRP does not allow self-antagging, despite Morph being literally designed for it. So it is now an awkward position that some admins give you a green light on MRP while others say it is forbidden.
The answer changes every time you ask an admin.

As far as I know, the current headmin stance is that gluttony morph CANNOT self antag - but I strongly believe the lack of open clarification does not help with this matter.

Seeing as it seemingly just depends on the admin, the player shouldn’t be punished and the rules should be made more clear.

Exactly, so this does not help public perception of it, be it from players or admins themselves.

No matter what tho, scouting lavaland as a ghost solely to grab loot intended for the miners and using it to grief station is extremely shitty.
I thought it was a crewmember at first, but it turned out to simply not be - and powergaming that hard is extremely punishable (or at least, i hope should be), be it on mrp or lrp. You are explicitely preventing miners from finding gear intended for them by abusing ghost roles and ghost vision.

As a not, my original post thought he was a miner - so my post was filled with “it should not be punishable because no one really even knows” - but the extreme powergaming changed my stance

Self-antag is willingly acting like an antag when you are not designated as one. If you are not already an antagonist, you may not willingly turn into one. Period.

Whether willingly or unwillingly, if you are transformed into something that is normally an antagonist by nature, you are still not an antagonist and must act accordingly with your original character. Bolt of change and such included, but there is more understanding when you get confused and start acting like an antagonist. It’s especially not okay when you willingly transform, though.

Let this be the post anyone can point to for it.

So: TL;DR: No one is allowed to become a morph except if they are antag. Serious question: Why does the ruin even exist then?

Also for clarification: does that count for MRP only or LRP as well? The rulesplit always complicates matters.

You can still become a morph and have fun with it, you just can’t act explicitly like an antagonist and start attacking or acting against the station for no reason. Would recommend transforming with a witness of some sort.

RE Rules split: Both servers follow exactly the same rules regarding Self-antag. If it’s self-antag on Sage, it’s self-antag on Golden. The only rules that are different between the two servers are in this section:

that’s not how that works lol. otherwise blood cult, clock cult, traitor brainwashing, wizard greentext event, etc, wouldn’t work lol. those all transform non-antags to antags

Conversion antagonists are actually mechanically making you an antagonist. A morph is not coded as an antagonist or given special brainwashing text of any sort.

There are two bodily transformations I’m aware of that actually send you alert text to follow objctives (because they’re coded poorly). Being transformed into a Xeno and being transformed into a Cyborg. And in the cyborg’s case you’re bound by silicon policy’s lavaland escalation because you have no laws when you get transformed into a syndiborg.

Yeah that about sums it up.
I will say that I made sure to specifically leave the non-lethal weapons so Security could at least do their job in some capacity.
I will accept a ban from those ghost roles and similar ghost roles if that’s what’s deemed appropriate.

One topic I do want to touch on though, there’s only two common uses for those Beach Bum roles.
1 - Dumb shit like detailed above.
2 - Miner’s treating them as a respawn when they die on Lavaland.

It seems like nobody is interested in those roles, and most of the other Lavaland ghost spawns otherwise.
It might be worth looking into completely reworking or just removing the Beach Bum and Bartender ghost spawns, as this seems like it’s been something of a longstanding issue.
