Additional Information:
So to put things from my perspective. I was on my way to brig when i saw Sydney Shaw (secoff) fighting other guy armed in sec gear and stun baton. After apprehending him we found out hes not on crew manifest. As Space law is only applicable to crewman, I thought that best course of action would be to just let hop/captain get to brig and employ him. I thought that leaving him in cell would be considered a mistake since no timer would be set at this point and our comms were wacky during shift I decided to move him to permabrig, and proceeded to escort him there, but changed my mind when i realised that hop would probably not come at all (he was RPing paperwork in hopline) and cap is busy with other stuff. He also said later, that explorers took him on station (vip escort target). I then confiscated all of his security things like baton and armor, and let him go after some time. 10 minutes later im getting bwoinked.

There is no specification as how to deal with non crewmembers in space law since 99% non-crewmembers are antags that are considered as EOTC. However there is no saying as what to do with agressive non-crewmember. He is not protected by space law. Warden was not in brig at the time as i brought him in.
I was moving him to permabrig not sentencing him to perma sentence. I did not break SOP since i did not commit to leaving him there in the first place. Why I am getting banned for rule 1 ban when it all ensued due to NRP(mindless batoning) in the first place? Am I breaching SOP or rules if i threaten them to hit them?

This guy spents rest of his round insulting me and complaining to captain that I should be demoted and put to cell, then cap goes on with it, asking warden to arrest me not stating him any reason for that, without even asking me about this incident.

I know I have sec bans, but its not an argument to prove me guilty of things I’ve done this shift. I’m trying to improve, but having notes and being judged upon them is not making it easier.
I mean no ill, feeling this is just a misunderstanding.

I thought it would be a mistake to leave him in a cell with no timer
so I decided to move him to permanent confinment instead

See the leap in logic here?
There’s a holding cell, specifically for situations like this

You broke Space Law. Rule 1 states to follow Space Law.

Yes, I should’ve used that one but I forgot it exists, yet as I said it was not perma sentence, it was to move him to safe confinement, until someone(cap/hos/warden) could employ/permabrig him. The outcome would be the same if i were to use holding cell.

The Warden or Head of Security are responsible for placing prisoners and in permanent confinement.
Placing. I did not place him there, and I had no intention of leaving him there forever. It was not permanent a sentence.
Also I would like to point out that I was banned for threats, not actions.

I did not break Space Law. If i left him in permabrig then I would breach SOP, but like I stated already I didn’t do that.

I was the Captain here. I demoted Kane for jumping the chain of command in deciding sentence, but the VIP did self admit to stun batoning someone. In my opinion, demotion (or intended demotion as the shuttle was 1 minute eta) to Janitor was suitable. Everyone including Kane was keeping up RP during the demotion and giving their sides of the story.

I feel the demotion was really the end of story here. The VIP was out and no longer being harassed by security. Kane went along with it fine. Giving my vote for a reversal of the sec ban.

Right, well, after giving it some thought and having some internal discussions I’ve decided that I was a tad too harsh here. As such I’ll be reducing the ban to time served.
I’d still advise you to not use the permabrig as a means of temporary holding, though.

Re-opened as per OP’s request.

Just a sidenote.

As I’m content with it, I still think it was my mistake which I fixed on my own- in the end no one was permabrigged. I Believe this shouldn’t stay as a note in my account, at least not in the current form.

Thank You for fast processing of this appeal.
As I dont have anything more to add, its okay to close it now.

It does stay as a note, yes.
