Is it against rules to have sunglasses? I like to give clown and mime sunglasses as lawyer if i dont want it or have a spare so they can prank security without them flashdropping them. Would that count as them powergaming because of ownership?

Lacking is a strong word… I’m not sure of numbers but medbay wasn’t upgraded anyway… Context is unknown as to how parts were acquired… Is asking for them at sci window allowed? Or should we file a written complaint during a red alert scenario about a department not doing their job?

I do remember handing someone an RPED full of tier 4 parts at one point. I have no idea what happened to it afterwards and I don’t even remember who I gave it to, but it could’ve been that one.

Well im pretty sure upgrades were made prior of red alert, they were teaching one of the scientist newbies how nanites worked and got parts whilist doing so (although its theirs to validify).

i got the space adapt after xenos were confirmed. the brig phys, was in genetics and told me that there was space adapt and xray in there.

pretty sure you could check the logs? i dunno, but im pretty sure i had nv medhuds on me

how would this make it a better roleplay experience for anyone? syrox said it pretty well here, so i dont really have anything to add

my job as a paramed is to bring injured people to medical, and if the damage isnt too high, or i dont have the ability to bring them back at once, treating them on the spot. i dont really have much to do at the start of the shift, so i have the time to move some medical equipment. i cant always get to the injured person with just my roundstart access. at that point, my only choices are to get the ai to open, or hack/break it open.

so i should let the person die to toxin damage while i drag em across the station, when i could have popped em a charcoal pill?

They literally went to space to fight xenos, then went to AI sat and fought a xeno there, how is that not jumpy bruh.
both the occations was to save someone. i didnt stick around to kill the alien on the sattelite, neither at the solars. only reason i went there, was because someone was hurt or getting hurt on sensors

Not really, but it is relevant to know since it’s an argument being used by the banning admin for justifying the ban.

I understand but admin started off extremely aggressive and showed lack of patience.

They were pointing out facts that made complete sense if they had just looked at context, in any case sunglasses or medical NV goggles arent against rules, if so i would like to be informed why, aliens cant flash people, how is it powergaming to have sunglasse against aliens? And why are they against rules when anyone can find it, either in maints or be given by lawyer, security or others who have or can get one.

NV goggles are from medical fab, its just a tool you research and use because it is not against any rules, i myself fabricate it whenever possible and i havent ever gotten a warn from anyone not to use them, they are there to free my pocket space of carrying a flashlight.

Not valid-hunting an antagonist doesn’t mean that you have to lay down and die if one is directly trying to kill you.

Not really all that viable with items.

Sunglasses could be power-gaming depending on context.
An example being if you rush them every round to get flash protection.

Paramedic going into dangerous situations to rescue people makes sense in my opinion but actively combatting xenos to do so may be pushing it a bit.

You certainly don’t need an RCD to do your job though.

A small peanut so sorry.

I believe we aren’t getting all the context on why some of the “acceptable” powergaming tools were also used as part of the reasons for this ban, and I don’t think we need to know those reasons.

But I want some clarity on some things if we are taking about paramedics.

Paramedic is one of my favorite jobs to play and my questions are simple;

  1. As paramedic I usually find medical equipment in maints such as a stasis bed or an operating console board.
Is it Powergaming to install them,a simple board and some wires, in medbay?
Since usually it’s not even researched at that point.

  2. Sometimes I find advanced sunglasses in maints and I like to convert them to medical hud sunglasses.
They look cool like the NV medhuds and I’m all about looking cool for rp reasons.
Is it power gaming to want cool medical sunglasses?
(Same question with diagnostic sunglasses if job related)

  3. How much medicine can a paramedic carry before it is considered power gaming.
Like it was said before, some people won’t make it to medbay and need some medicine, sometimes even advanced medicine.

  4. Are suit sensors powergaming ?
Because they are the main cause why a paramedic would end up in a bad place at a bad time and maybe even shove a traitor against a wall before running away

  5. I usually grab a screw driver, some wires and a wrench for installing a console or a stasis bed in medbay.
Much much tools can a paramedic have on him before it is considered power gaming?
Like, can I get a multi tool ?

Added #6. Is space adapt powergaming if I live on a space station ?
Because if anyone gives me space adapt I will accept it, we live in space after all.

So tools are fine, surgery shit is fine by me, minor healing chems are fine, bluespace RPED was leftover from upgrading medbay (which is fine) and I don’t see how it can be powergaming, since it doesn’t help you “win”.

Powergaming wise that leaves sunglasses, which people say they didn’t have (item possession isn’t logged anyway) and the RCD, which is the only thing I would barely call powergaming (also depends how they got it).

Now the xeno attack I would like more context about, was it self defense, or actual validhunting, where people go out of their way to kill antags?

Actually scratch that, killing xenos is fine as any job, they are an existential threat like nukies or blob (more potent than them I would argue) and we don’t ban people for validhunting when they arm up and try to kill those.

First up, made this account on the forums just to protest this ban, it seems absurd. For one, an RCD is not power gaming for someone who essentially has AA already. It is a valuable extraction tool.

Second, isn’t the call for the ENTIRE crew to combat the threat of xenos, even if they are not trained and incompetent.

It is the paramedic’s job to rush into danger and rescue crew.

I can only assume we have admin favoritism for the Xeno players in this round. Mat05 and Archangel both have bad arguments. Just reading this, It looks like blatant impropriety and favoritism.

That would have to be confirmed by logs.

I cannot, in this case I have to either trust an admin, or a person that was banned and has been noted for powergaming and validhunting already.

Because if we allow everybody to do jobs they are not supposed to, why do we even have jobs? Just make everyone assistant with AA, reduce cooperation to zero and make it singleplayer.

Or get access to HoP, or ask someone from the department to open. There are plenty possibilites and it doesn’t always have to end with you breaking shit to get someone.

I’m not against having any chems, but it doesn’t sound like you had stuff only to stabilize people, more like you were a mobile medbay.

I don’t think so, does it look like one? He’s been noted recently for powergaming and validhunting.

So being an engineer, MD, MD and sci as a one person is fine? Interesting.

Lol

How does holding a leftover RPED make you a scientist, scientists do more than hold RPEDs, also archanial said himself that tools by themselves are acceptable (which I agree with).

Well the only thing in this situation you could call powergaming tool are sunglasses, which even if he had those would give him absolutely no advantage against xenos. im almost certain that people aside from antags use sunglasses for vanity.

Being 3 roles huh? i haven’t seen them go in science and do research or make toxin bombs, nor have i seen them set up SM and wire solars, just having tools that could do those doesn’t mean he stole jobs of others and did it for them, all he literally did is help his own department.

so this part is pure hearsay now. i belive i was wearing nv medglasses. what else do you want me to say? disproving everything i say because someone in a higher position said otherwise is just. yea

… no?
you seem to be taking it like i was going around fixing station breaches, chasing down xenos with a gun and setting up multiple medbays. i did my job using the tools i had present

ah, ok. oh nooo a guy is taking oxy damage in janitor closet! time to stand in line for 10 minutes waiting for the hop to get back only to finally get there and see that he has soul departed. the thing is that there arent always people to open. there usually isnt anyone to open, as if there is a second person there the damage would most likely never been taken, or they would have already been taken/on the way to medical

shall i repeat the chems i had on me? bicardine, kelatone, charcoal, 2 oxy pills and some patches of each type. theese arent wonderpills. theese are basic low healing pills. then again, i cant really prove to you that thats what i had.

lack of roleplay was just thrown on because the “powergaming” as far as i understand

i wasnt. i was being a paramedic. a bored paramedic with little to do at the start

xenos is a station wide threat that has to be dealt with by all of the crew. they are a threat as big, or even bigger than Nukies and blob. their endgoal is to kill everyone.

if the Rules about building are so important, please make a section in rules about it. I’ve read through em multiple times, and I can’t find a single rule about not being allowed to upgrade or change your department’s layout without an engineer. should cargo techs no longer be allowed to build teslas on the cargo shuttle then? call an engineer to set up their express console?

me and a lot of other people like building things in maints. if I’m not playing as RD or sci I’m usually setting up a maints bar, or a reading room in the commissary. it this against the rules?

Sadly equipment isn’t logged, so yeah it’s your word against admins.

You seem to be appropriately geared to do that

That was just a response to yours ‘there are ONLY TWO choices’, I gave you another 2. Possibly shitty, yes, but still choices.

Again, in this case it’s your word against his.

That was a response to shit accusations of me somehow being in favour of xeno players even though I wasn’t even online during that round.

“Your word against admin’s” but if you look at what admin said after never replied after it just seems like they didn’t care to a large degree.

Waiting for someone to open a door for you while you know a person is dying or dead behind it is stupid. that’s how you get called a shitty paramedic.

Geared to fix breaches isnt fixing them as i said, he didnt steal anyones job he just had tools to build what he wanted quick and easy.

I have no clue why admin even considered banning paramedic for powergaming against xenos when xenos are well known station wide threat, everyone must take part in killing them either directly or indirectly or else station dies. unless we have actual 10+ people in security to handle the matter, everyone should participate in hunt or rescue.

implausible choices.
lets say i want to buy some jaffa cakes at the store. its a 20 minute walk through the forest or a 10 minute drive.
my alternatives would then be to
A. drive. this would make the most sense timewise
B. walk. this would be the cheapest way
then we get into the choices i HAVE but would make no sense to take
C. call a friend to drive me there
D. order a cab
E. drive to the city, buy a moped, learn how to drive a moped, go to the nearest gas station and fill the tank and THEN drive to the store and buy the cakes.

i know this is a pretty shitty comparison, but i hope you get the point im trying to get through
