Your CKEY (Including any alts you have): Rukofamicom, Rukofamicon, Cuban Pete King of the Rumba Beat. I have a few other alts which are lost to me now as well.
Your Discord Name (Including any alts you have): Rukofamicom
How often are you online to help? (Timezone): CST evenings, Weekends at irregular times.
What changes, if any, would you bring?: I am not a pioneer of change at this time, at least not on the admin side of things.
How old are you?: 34
Why do you want to be a moderator?: Because I had a great time helping out before and I think I can again now that I’ve mellowed out substantially. I’d like to think I can keep a better frame of mind and avoid becoming jaded again as well.
How long have you been playing SS13?: Just short of five years
How long have you been playing BeeStation?: Just short of five years
On a scale of 1-10, how skilled are you in SS13?: 5, I am quite unrobust at actually playing. I will lose or run away from at least 80% of my combat encounters, but I do have a lot of knowledge and find my strength in supporting others to succeed.
On a scale of 1-10, how skilled are you as an administrator? (this can include past games): 8, I’m certainly not perfect, but if I can shove the imposter syndrome aside I’d say the community response has pushed me to believe in my ability as an admin a bit more. I definitely wasn’t as famous as @Caecilius for events, but the one thing I’m proud of was keeping rounds interesting for players - I just took more of the unseen hand approach to influencing normal rounds.
Have you ever been an admin or moderator on another server? This is not limited to SS13: Yes, several games. Terraria, Unturned, Ark are the biggest in my past.
Do you have any alternate accounts on SS13? If so, could you provide their CKEY?: Rukofamicon, Cuban Pete King of the Rumba Beat, Various others I’ve lost
Your strengths: Strong introspection and objectivity in handling issues, readily able to adapt my stance to a different point of view. I was also very good at ensuring players understood why they were wrong and why I feel punishment as opposed to warning was necessary.
Your weaknesses: I am known for being harsh in the punishments I give when I do punish.
Is there anything that gets you really mad, real fast?: Lying and malicious intent (actively trying to ruin others’ games)
What do you think is the most important trait for a staff member to have?: Empathy, Patience
What makes a staff team good?: Good coordination and teamwork, being on the same page with issues
What is a staff team’s purpose?: To keep the game enjoyable and accessible for others by removing bad faith actors, correcting good faith actors that have slipped up, guiding players who lack information, and helping to facilitate interesting situations when rounds stagnate.
What kind of player are you?: Either the punchline, or the quiet and nameless supporting character. My favorite roles as non-antag include simplemobs, engineer and medbay. My favorite antag roles are Revenant and Nightmare and it pains me to see people using these two for mindless murder.
How do you think you will change once you become a staff member?: I’m really hoping I don’t this time. When I changed last time it was definitely not for the better as I gradually became more and more jaded, to the point that people IRL eventually intervened.
The clown slips the HoS and steals his gun, spacing it right after. What do you do?: First and foremost I’m going to laugh at the HoS. Depending on several details not mentioned here this is anything from IC to mild self-antag: Clowns exist to entertain the crew, not purely themselves, so I would be looking at the clown’s interactions this round as well as their notes looking for a history of shittery and ensure the clown knows their purpose if they seem to be making a habit of causing misery instead of joy.
A non-antagonist is sabotaging the Atmospherics loop and pumping plasma into the distro, along with dragging around a canister and releasing it into the atmosphere. Assuming that an admin is cleaning up the after-effects, how do you conduct the ahelp with him?: Admin jail if they haven’t already been, but I’d always open with a question about what and why they’re doing? This is almost always a case of someone being a griefer though, especially if the account is brand new.
A chemist who is working alone accidentally mixes an explosive mixture inside of his chem dispenser, instantly killing himself and destroying the machine, along with exposing Chemistry to space. Nobody else was injured aside from him as a result of his actions. What do you do?: Probably communicate with them through dead chat without a bwoink and offer them advice regarding the production of meth and probably give some chemistry tips in general. I would also probably leave a secret note about the accident so that it can be addressed as recurring if it continues frequently, but even experienced players can genuinely mess up sometimes.
As an additional note: Blame @WhereAmI for this.
