ok so this is in reference to a round that just happened. but I’m gonna disguise what happened using different objects and people in case of unintended backlash.
ok so marybob sees a bag laid up against a wall in maintenance. she checks the bag, and she finds the captain’s spare id. she’s happy! AA! so IS IT HER LUCKY FUCKING DAY, OR IS SHE COMMITTING GRAND THEFT AND THEREFORE PUNISHABLE BY DEATH
ok so marybob1 finds herself wanting a gun. she sees the HoP’s locker looks untouched, so she decides to use a spear and break in. she finds a laser gun! yay! IS IT HER LUCKY FUCKING DAY, OR IS SHE COMMITTING GRAND THEFT AND THEREFORE PUNISHABLE BY DEATH
Marybob if a proper crew member should report and return the ID to the HOP. If they decide to keep it and get caught with it, you can’t blame sec for thinking that Marybob stole it. Since the spare is only found in the captains locker it would be reasonable to execute and would be terrible accident of circumstance. If he chose to use the ID it is not breaking and entering, but still trespassing by unauthorized access.
If Marybob breaks into any command level access room and steals, it is considered major tresspass and is perma/gulagable. If she steals the laser gun, which is a non essential common item, it is just normal theft not grand theft. This is not grounds for execution, but if it were done it would only be a break in space law. The gods would most likely not care.
