Is this for both servers or just one? If so, which one: Sage
Ban Type: Server
Ban Length: 3 Weeks
Ban Date (MM/DD/YYYY): 12/23/2020
Round ID: 25334
Ban Reason: Powergaming and validhunting on MRP, just take a break, okay?
Appeal Reason: There is absolutely no context to this ban whatsoever. I’m gonna explain the story in full, round starts: I walk out of the magicians office out into the hall after picking up a present. Wander around a bit, piss off HoP, and then walk up to cargo, then cargo gives out a crate of laser guns. I take a couple since quite a few other people scramble to yoink guns. Then after roaming the halls a bit more, I go down towards evac to see if the chaplain was doing anything funny. As I walk past R&D a bomb goes off; I look in the room and see a borg using a weldingtool to kill a clown in an EVA suit. So using the tools I had I tried to save the clown - hopped the table started chasing and shooting. Got to the nanites room and fought him and another dude who assisted the borg in dragging off the clown. After defeating them both, I then see a scientist from toxins and ask for help to take the clown, the borg and the other scientist to the respective places where they should go. Such as medbay, robo, sec. And then right after successfully taking the borg to robo, the captain deconstructs the borg so I fuck off. Then seconds later, borg comes back to me as peacekeeper, pretty sure he sets me to arrest, and paralyzes me with spray and claims that I am human harm.
Additional Information: TLDR: I didn’t powergame because the guns were handed out to the general public, I didnt go out of my way to acquire them. And I wasn’t validhunting because I literally watched the borg kill a guy and bomb R&D. (ENGI borg btw). Even to say I am validhunting (which I’m not) the ban is way too harsh (for example, there was a research director who broke into the armory with a mech to get weapons. And was banned for 2 days for doing this and got a week job ban.)
I was also told by staff to not attack the borg but to instead: “Just drag the body away”. The problem with this, is by the time I had got into the room the borg was out of the airlock and down the hall. So I had to haul ass to chase after it to nanites.
I would be curious to see the logs pulled. I can understand not wanting non-sec to do sec work, but silicons deliberately killing crew is a major imminent danger on par with nukeops. If Poo’s version of events is factual, the players involved in ordering guns for no reason should be pulled up and receive job bans.
I’d also like to add when I explained my case to the staff member he would change the subject: E.g. When I was talking about why I was fighting the borg and explained in full, he then pulled it back to me having laser guns and said that was power gaming “go take a break”. Then goes back again in the ban including validhunting. It may be a stretch but I might title this as ban hunting.
@Tyranicranger4 can I assign to someone else, since I don’t think its fair for the same staff member who banned you to be the one who looks at and judges your appeal. Could someone else please take over this case.
Bans are not applied in a vacuum. Someone who is a repeat offender gets harsher punishments until eventually being permanently banned or they stop and actually follow the rules.
Not weighing in either direction on this particular one and I don’t feel like getting logs right now. I’d hope Cargo was punished if the statement is true though. It’s bad enough if they open crates they aren’t supposed to, but distributing them is next level.
It’s happened a couple times on sage in recent memory. There have also been a couple null crate cargo rounds, and I remember one round where someone set up shop selling syndicate gear.
Can I get multiple different inputs from different staff members because it has been cases multiple times in the past where staff will open and shut cases because they are the one who made the ban and handle it.
I just re-read this and have some thoughts(all contingent on Poo’s description being factual):
In addition to the case of a rogue silicon being just as dangerous as nukeops and no worth applying validhunting/powergaming standards to when one crew member tries to save another from such a threat -
The silicon should be investigated as to whether it was willfully violating crewsimov or subeverted and, in the case of violating crewsimov, be disciplined.
This other party that assisted in dragging the clown off with the hostile borg may be party to grief (hurting the clown is an awful greytide meme) and should receive discipline if this is the case.
Cargo should be given job bans for distributing weapons for no reason, period. I don’t think a warning is appropriate for such a stupid action on MRP. Just opening those crates should have been a warning, distributing them is straight up grief.
@Tyranicranger4 it’s worth looking into for the chance to potentially catch people who were doing some real fucky wuckys.
@PooDevourer I’m not questioning your recollection of events or motivations by saying this, but you need to realize that you can be wrong about things. Like the time you assumed I was trashing things in the kitchen because I put a piece of dough in the microwave and yeeted my entire inventory into the deep fryer because of it.
I get the feeling you are prone to over-escalation in general and should probably just avoid conflict entirely when possible. Even valid conflicts.
Also, be careful not to jump to conclusions because if you’re wrong it can turn into a shitshow followed by a fat ban.
Okay, my apologies everyone for the late reply, Christmas after all, we have families too as admins
After looking at the logs list I do see everything lines up. My apologies for the uncalled for ban, I’ll let you back and go get things situated. Um, admins, can I do a ban from this or should I file a player report? Or, um… Maybe I’ll just do a player report I’ve done enough damage this week Anyways you should be allowed on very soon!
