Ban was for 7 days, not one

And while you killed the actual floor cluwne after it murdered probably half of the crew, you know that’s not what the ban is for. One of your security officers donned the mask and and decided to make some cluwne noises so you murdered them. They tried to run away and you pursued to finish the job.

You have a history of over-escalation as it is too.

Ruko dude I try to be pretty civil in these appeals but you’re being a fucking tard. I’m flabbergasted. I’m tempted to chalk this up to you disliking me personally, I can’t make sense of this any other way. How can you possibly think mercykilling the most valid creature to walk the station warrants a seven day ban. This is the server where mimes are killed for talking and clowns are killed for taking their shoes off.

I’ll break it down for you:

  • You were not banned for killing the cluwne You killed a player for making funny sounds in a costume. This is like killing a regular clown for honking his horn near you. This is extreme over-escalation, not a misunderstanding or being caught in the heat of the moment.
  • Over-escalation like you did in this situation would be against the rules on Golden as well, so the ban is for both servers.
  • You were security. We hold security to a higher standard than normal players, especially concerning escalation and killing/execution without a good reason.
  • Bans have been stepped up on Sage recently due to the constant outcry regarding the quality of players on the server and the ineffectiveness of our short bans. I pushed for this personally as well.
  • This is not your first case of over-escalation, in fact it’s not your second either. You’ve been in trouble for doing similar to this before and should know you don’t pull the trigger on someone unless necessary. All three of these points combine to make for the potential of a month-long ban
  • While you are known for over-escalation, you haven’t had issues for a while. Whether that’s just because you haven’t been connecting and took a break, or because you’ve been well-behaved I’m not sure. Either way, I toned the ban back from what coule have been longer due to the recent part of your record being clean.

I think one of us doesn’t understand how cluwnes work. I hope it’s me, because if it’s me, then you’re not a silly goose. My understanding is that he didn’t put on a funny costume, he was transformed into a cluwne a-la The Mask, except irreversible.

This is like killing a regular clown for honking his horn near you.

Except it’s not, it’s more like killing a former comrade who was bitten by a zombie. If it was just a piece of clothing, then oopsie doopsie, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t.

I’ll need some proof to believe this for Golden as well, for that matter since the mask does nothing harmful at all.

My understanding is that he didn’t put on a funny costume, he was transformed into a cluwne a-la The Mask, except irreversible.

Putting on the mask is irreversible, makes you unable to speak (and instead make cluwne noises when you try) and also puts some other un-removable clothing on you. Aside from an inability to speak and a traumatizing appearance though, that is all the mask does.

That said, if this was a kill over a complete misunderstanding like this instead of “LOL VALID” or similar I don’t have a problem lifting it - Cluwnes are not exactly something that the server deals with very often at all.

Cluwne officer here , Yeah I put the mask on for a meme cause why not , I instantly regretted that decision. To be fair this is medium rp and you instantly targeted me with a shotgun without saying a word and chased me to execute me even though i was a fellow security officer just moments before after you saved me from dieing. I pulled this from the wiki which even though stating its valid to kill a cluwne you could have at least rp’d or taken me to the chaplin instead of just going straight to killing me.

No it’s up to another admin to decide whether wiki claims of something being valid flies on Sage or not. The kill still isn’t cool with me at all - You immediately pulled out lethals on your fellow security officer after he touched a cursed object, after he showed no intent to harm you and you shot him in the back as he was trying to run from you to get to safety. You were immediately criticized for it IC as well.

I was cool with removing the ban if it was a simple mistake, but not if you’re going to backpedal and try to claim it was RP motivated after the fact. That’s not how RP works. “Well it could have been justifiable RP” is not the same as “I did the RP in the moment”

Nevermind, That is exactly what you tried saying in the ticket.
Note deleted, ban removed. I didn’t know the lore behind cluwnes yet at the time I was getting this reasoning. I had just asked about it in adminchat to make sure they were harmless.

By the time of the appeal, I had forgotten this was what was said in the ticket.
