Is it ok if I name my character after a certain Nambian councillor for the Ompundja constituency?
No. We all know who you mean.
But Hitler as a first name doesnât reference the historical figure. Itâs used in parts of Africa apparently.
So, itâs not a direct reference to anything, or on its own, the name of a celebrity or character. Technically it fits MRP naming rules.
We all know you wouldnât be using the name âbecause itâs common in africaâ, and thatâs all that matters here.
Youâll have to make him African, then itâs ok.
Local edgelord toes the line. More news at 11.
(I did in fact need to search what you meant by that) Something about Hitler? Yeah thatâs a no, Adolfâs different (See my long-winded post about adidas or whatever where I defend the first name Adolf, I did in fact do a bit of research for that, I think it was the naming policy page) Similarly, Iâd veto the name âStalinâ but find someone named âJoseph McKenzieâ just fine. The last names are pretty infamous so even finding an excuse of âoh but thereâs this guy with that first nameâ wouldnât quite cut it. Another example on the other end of the spectrum: Mozart is iconic, his first name âWolfgangâ however (Donât question it I donât understand Germany/Austria/Holy Roman Empireâs the latter was neither holy, nor roman, nor an empire apparent obsession with wolves) got quite a few results when I typed it in Google.
Hitler? I doubt. Adolf, however, is common in the manâs area due to it having previously been a German colony. Likewise there is also a small German-speaking community as well as towns with German-inspired names.
