Could space exploration be updated? TG station seems like it has more stuff to do, there are usually more gps signals to explore and derelict station is updated to have more materials. Would add a lot more variety to the game.

Budget went from 20->8

But why tho? Space exploration is cool and this just makes it so the only worthwhile find is the trade route.

Ike just hates fun or something?

Server was continuously running out of memory at around 90-120 minutes resulting in a hard crash. The ruin budget change freed up a pretty decent amount of memory before fastmos was merged and freed up a lot more.

Ruins to explore are less important than stable server and reducing them has minimal impact on most player experiences in any given round.

Sad. Though. Now that fastmos are in, any chance to get it back to where it was?

I like less lag but less flavor and fastmos poopoo tho. Is it really only the way to fix lag/crashes?

I’m told atmos was our #1 problem on server load before, so nothing else could have had more impact than ‘improving’ atmos.

As for space ruins, it’s like I said above - cuts had to be made somewhere. They were targeted because they’re not integral. Reducing them had less of an impact on rounds than changing almost any other aspect of the server. During most rounds nobody leaves to explore space, and on the rounds that someone does, it’s at most two or three players. Those players leaving to explore rarely contribute further to the rest of the round as a whole on top of this.

That said, with fastmos it can probably be reverted most if not all the way back. I don’t really know, I’m just regurgitating information I’ve been fed before.
I do know the server is apparently always teetering pretty close to memory limit just because of how old the engine is, and anything freed up adds a lot of potential stability for when something causes a spike

If that’s the case, would it not be a good idea to reduce the number of Z-levels?
