MIME TRAITORS: A problem(?)

I’m on my way to get 200 hours as clown. I’ve seen many many many mimes at roundstart. Every time (and I mean every time) one of them silently goes out of the theatre or pies you and doesnt laugh, just leaves, they are 100% an antag. Always. It doesnt fail. And then mimes become greentexters shitters! They dont try to be a mime and a traitor. They become silent shitters who try to get AA and stuff like that!. A clown? Is still a clown when is a tot and they have a lot of tools to make funny stuff. An engineer? They will keep being an engineer and use stuff related to engineering to accomplish their goals. An atmos? Same. A chemist? For sure. A botanist? Yus yus. A mime? The mime inmediatly becomes a shitter. I’ve never seen a mime pulling out a mime traitor. But I’ve seen many mimes trying to get AA or weapons or the most OP UNFUNNY stuff and destroying the whole security without a single word. So. MY PROPOSITION TO FIX THIS IS: Give mimes the clumsy trait by defect, same as clowns. It may not be super justified, but most mimes behave like clowns anyways. So that would encourage mimes to ACTUALLY try to do something interesting instead of becoming NPCs that dont react to you saying anything and just want to GREENTEXT.

Honestly it’s not a bad idea, 99% of the mime traitors don’t emote, don’t rp and only focus on killing and greentext or if they’re not antag they decide to be deputies and assist sec, i can count with one hand the good mime players that currently play, if they had the clumsy trait they would actually need to put effort into their gimmicks and they wouldn’t be a silent deputy, you just need to take into account the mime invisible gun so it doesn’t apply the clumsy there and done.

Clowns by default have the clumsy trait removed when they become a traitor.

To me it sounds more like a player issue but i aint gonna voice my opinion.

mimes dont really have gimmick tc gear that is not a downgrade from something else they can get for cheaper or the same price.

the fingergun is abysmally weak and used to not even work. the 3 wall is nice but finnicky to use.
the baguette blade is just a reskinned cap sword that has no inhand sprite, but still makes the same sounds on use.

hot potato is just a griefer level item IMO.

maybe i should look into porting the combat bakery kit from TG.

damn i hate that beestation does not have multi z stations so I could drop a piano on someone here if I ever came back for a bit of tomfoolery.

Is this for all cases? I remember getting pinned down in Amory as a blood brother clown and whenever I tried to shoot back at sec I always shot myself I’m it foot.

Then there’s the clown revolver, can’t only clumsy people use it?

BBs are still clumsy
only traitors, heretics and lings are not.

It is, mime itself is fine conceptually and can enable some interesting gimmicks and player interaction. However, a non-negligible portion of our Mime players play the role specifically because it lets them avoid having to talk to people; which accounts for a majority of player interactions in a given round.

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that there’s frequently an overlap between this type of player and the type that sees Antagonist roles solely as an opportunity to dunk on security, get some frags, and greentext.

Yes, it works exactly like that for which you’ll be metagamed to hell and back.
Even if your clumsiness is removed by being a traitor you still can use it without misfiring.

You can see this behaviour everytime everywhere. I myself do it sometimes even! Used to see it VERY often as a chemist.

I’m going to say it again, but like mime just needs to be removed because the playerbase cannot handle not playing mime to either antag roll or valid hunt. Just make an entertainer role that both clown and mime fall under and have it so being unfunny is a perma job ban to keep the slot open.

Good intentions, bad execution. Keep the mime role, just force them to actually try to do mime things and if not it’s an easy role ban. It’s easy to know if you play mime to be a greentexter or validhunter.

Just automate the process. Get their average speech and emote character count per round as a non-Mime and compare it to them as an antagonist Mime. If they have no non-Mime hours compare it to a global average. If less than 50%, auto ban 'em. ez

This is easy to code and won’t be a pain in the ass for developers to implement

It’s everything but an easy role ban.
How much should they mime and when?
What if they are antags? What if people ignore them?
What if they mime, but I don’t like it or think it’s not enough?

The role doesn’t work, because emoting is hard and counter-intuitive for many.
Even if emoting was easy to pull off, I’m not sure we would see many do it.

You are right let’s just remove mime tot options then :3

Mime antags suffer from getting destroyed by a wordless security stun baton while doing elaborate emotes so they become jaded greentext seekers, a tale as old as time.

Wordless security is less of a problem each day that passes by, as security is often populated by the same seasoned players that don’t shoot lethals on sight

Or just emote, but we don’t see that happening, so yeah I don’t know.

I really don’t see what point you’re trying to make here, as people usually pick mime so they don’t have to put in any effort to interact with other players, proven by several “emoting is too hard” remarks from them.
Plus you’re guilty of both awful security and antag conduct so you don’t have a leg to stand on in this argument.

So because I have bad conduct I can’t spot it myself? Brainlet take honestly.
