A big issue in the game is that credits don’t matter all that much or have many uses. I think if a player being strapped down to something in medbay, it should take credits out of the ID of the person who’s in it per minute. This would include the statsis bed, surgery table, sleepers, or anything else I missed. If you ran out of money or have no money/insurance credits, you won’t be able to be buckled into those devices. The cost per minute would have to be worked out, but I think it would really make credits important and make RP thinks like making mini shops or tipping service people actually mean something. Only things that would be free is the cryo tube and cloning (or could make it where you can emag the cloning console to charge people money per cloning). All money taken would be put into the medbay budget. Another issue this could address is how overpowered statsis beds are, and how after the wall of beds have been made pretty much any other medical equipment is made useless, making it expensive to be put on a statsis bed can help people use other equipment.
Insurance plans would also would exist, which would translate to paying a sum of credits per half hour for X amount of free time on any table/medical equipment. If someone doesn’t have a ID in a emergency scenario, money is pulled from the civil budget (maybe medbay budget).
RP wise people can literally make ghetto medbay centers that don’t charge per-minute, VIP’s and other high paying jobs can become loan sharks, and so many more opportunities can be made.
This is a late night thought so this isn’t as typed or presented as thought out as I’d like. So feel free to put in input as I go to bed.
Yeah not even 10 minutes later I realize the main flaw is that most surgeries require jumpsuits to be removed, not allowing the user to wear their ID. Could be fixed with it by just inserting the patients ID into the machine, and it gets ejected once the patient is unbuckled so people don’t forget
Feel like this could be a fun gimmick to try out as the CMO or such first. Run around and time it yourself for how long someone is on a stasis bed and give them a bill. If they fail to pay it, contact security to give them a fine and later arrest them. I wanna try this now. xd
I’m an advocate for social healthcare - Medbay should be deducted from each wage.
The main issue I see with this is that there have been far too many times where a doctor simply straps you to a stasis bed and then forgets about you for a good ten to fifteen minutes - If a doctor is new, or a bit unsure of what they’re doing, the player who needs to be treated is instead punished through this mechanic.
Maybe, akin to security’s ticketing system - A charge should be added to your account each time a successful surgery is applied to you, with an additional charge every time you enter medbay. Could set up laser gates in medbay that apply the charge to your account.
I could see a small charge being applied per-second for being the medical sleeper however, since you usually tend to recieve active treatment while in there.
This way, the player still has to pay a bill for medical services, but it’s equally dependant on medical performing their job properly.
