Ban Reason: Lavaland escalation doesn’t mean BoH bomb the emergency shuttle as a free golem.
Appeal Reason: I would like to argue that the BoH WAS lavaland escalation. I was a golem who popped in by the shuttle using a quantum inverter so i could place some golem shells on the station, and some fucker stole my quantum inverter and then while they were on the golem ship, they ran into the teleporter, effectively stranding me on the station. Thats WHY i was on the station. so I attempt to get the fuckin quantum spin inverter back so I can go back to the golem ship using the station teleporter. Some fuckin botanist slips me, and steals my fucking spare BoH which i was carrying the golem shells and mats in, and he continues to run around shooting at me and slipping everybody. as he is continuing to shoot at me, I get my bag back, and its clear this dude is going to kill me, so I detonate it. The rules do not say I cannot use a large explosion to get the person I am fighting. Its lavaland escalation. I was just chilling and the station wronged me. It was the only option I had left. It was that or lay down and die, which would be stupid.
Additional Information: They had a mosin, so it might have been a russian, but I dont know if it was or not.
You’re right, but common sense should fill that in. You don’t get to use a grenade in a crowded area to defend yourself from an attacker either. Based on the details provided (having two BoH in the first place, trying to drop shells across station) it sounds almost like you were trying to provoke a conflict.
I don’t think the ban should be permanent though, was this done due to a disconnection @bloons3 or am I missing something else?
It wasnt me trying to provoke conflict. the shuttle was about to arrive so I popped some shells on the station to help out. they never got used, but it was good intentions. I had two BoH because the one I was wearing was full of other shit already, including my own quantum spin inverter, the return one of which had gotten stolen. at best, IF i had gotten on the shuttle, maybe I would have BoH with the spare bag post round, but thats an IF. I was still doing stuff on the golem ship (we had set up atmos shit and I was interested in seeing how well it worked) so I was gonna hop back and finish up as the round ended. But I couldn’t. My shit was stolen, and I was attacked. I had no ties to the station as a golem, and I had been observing so I had no meta grudges, if I had a grenade, I would have thrown it at him despite the area being crowded because the only way I was gonna go back home was to get my shit back. It was either that, or die. and If I was gonna die, I was taking the fucker who was killing me with me.
I fail to see how that changes anything. they were fucking with me, a free golem, by stealing my shit and attacking me. That doesnt change my initial intentions upon coming to the station.
Really, I don’t have a good reason to doubt your intentions as a player; you’re not a problem player in the slightest. I’m jumping to cynical conclusions over the double BoH combined with the general view against lavaland golems, but the explanation makes plenty of sense.
I still think you shouldn’t BoH bomb (or any other kind of bomb/large area retaliation that will affect innocents) even on lavaland escalation because it’s not true to the escalation - You’re causing unprovoked harm to many others around you. I wasn’t there to see if this was specifically the case, but if it was I don’t think a ban was unjustified.
Ban should be reduced to a few days at most, or lifted entirely depending on the exact circumstances.
im not gonna claim that the BoH was the best possible solution, so i understand where thats coming from, and I understand giving out a (non perma) ban for using excessive force to kill two total dudes.
The main cause for the appeal was length and reason. If I had been given a ban for the reasons I stated above, I would get it. “Thats not how lavaland escalation works” was not the correct reason because technically it is how it works.
I wont fight you on that. Ban me for a week, its not like I didnt do anything wrong. The perma was extreme, but I dont disagree that I did cause an unnecessary amount of damage for a relatively bad reason.
And not gonna lie, 5 might be generous. I dont know how many people were on the shuttle, but I do know that only like 3 people actually remained on the shuttle. and thats not including the trip to centcomm since I got banned right as the shuttle left.
Perma was “appeal on forums”, also because there had just been another major griefer that round.
It’s rare that I would hear someone ask for a harsher sentence, but it shows good character that you want to be fairly punished even if I’m lenient.

what about the botanist in question who supposedly attacked him out of the blue?
can we get any investigations from that? because if the botanist was slipping people for no reason, attacked a golem and stole their shit for seemingly no reason, they were quite literally the direct cause of this happening, why aren’t they being punished? their name hasn’t even been mentioned
Sure, malevolent CHOSE to BOH bomb, but that’s only because the botanist put him in a situation where he was faced with only two choices: Sit there and die, or go out fighting
the thing I hate the most about all these player reports and ban appeals is that, alot of the time, the person appealing/being reported had reasons for their actions because another player gave them said reasons - but the player giving them said reasons is never brought to justice
a prime example of this is when maggot was reporting nancy for killing him after spamming comms, being a degenerate felinid, and being extremely LRP on the server - which resulted in him facing mob justice, but he never even got verbally warned or noted for his otherwise bannable behavior

Is this getting accepted or denied? It seems like a conclusion was reached, but I am still without any sort of answer or resolution to this particular issue. Am I still banned? If so, for how long? I’d just prefer to not be stuck in limbo forever.
no, its whatever, I just want closure for this at this point. 5 days isnt a big deal. im already through 2 of them. I don’t think fighting it is gonna actually lower the ban any more anyway.
If you think that the ban length is unjust, you have the right to appeal it. I don’t want you to feel pressured that you shouldn’t appeal the length of your ban.
