Maggot’s Guide to United States History

So anyway I love history, and U.S. history, and there’s not a lot of it because the U.S. is so young. So I decided I’m going to write a history of the US here for gigs and shiggles, starting with this brief overview.

U.S. history can really be divided into just a few parts.

-The Revolution, and everything before and after (Boston Massacre, Articles of Confederation, etc)

-Waiting for the Civil War (over slavery) to happen, ending with the Civil War itself

-And Modern History, which you could probably also subdivide into pre-and-post WWII.

As a preview, here’s how big the U.S. is compared to Europe.

The Size of the U.S. (for Europeans)

This is a map of the U.S. with the relatively small state of Maine circled.

This is Maine compared to Ireland.

This is Texas compared to the entirety of Yugoslavia.

And Florida alone has a land area over 8,500 square kilometers larger than England’s, which should hopefully give you an idea of how staggeringly large the United States is.

If you want to compare U.S. state sizes with countries, I used https://www.thetruesize.com/ which lets you move countries and states around to different places on the projection, so you can see how big (or little) a given place is.

Lemme know if you want to know more or don’t care. Gonna write it up anyway.

I think this is a better Texas size comparison picture myself

Hard disagree, high density brings people together.

People aren’t built to be that “together”. It only increases crime and depression rates.

Heaven is 10 other people.
Hell is 100 other people.

Gotta agree with Orion here. I hate living next to other people if they’re alive.

As a millennial that had to live in a house with 6 strangers in a major metropolitan area for the sake of my career for six years; give me seclusion or give me death.
