linda? it’s okay innit.

firelocks? remove them from the game as well as the akashic records so I can never look at these abominations again. I will start bombing every firelock I see. I will hire taylor to steal all the firelocks.

Seriously, these things are fucking pathetic and insanely frustrating, and not in a good way.

Genuinely just making tiny fans everywhere, another pathetic solution, is a BETTER solution than these devil’s doors.

In conclusion go rework holofields and use that. Maybe make them just be a single thin line instead of covering the entire tile they’re on, bam, fucking solved.

what.

this is about the intent system that they added which turns everything into either Combat Mode or Not Combat Mode and fucks w/ your rightclick

I like the intent system. I’m used to it from playing on Nova and TG.
It makes a number of things more enjoyable, and adds the possibility for more functionality with certain aspects of the game.
Playing Cards Against Spessmanity on TG is a whole lot better than it was on Bee for the longest time for instance, because of this.

I think that its a great time for Bee Station, seeing modernization happening at an impressive rate since I returned a week or two ago has left me in awe.

Keep up the good work, everyone involved!

(I know it’s about the intent system. I have zero feedback that isn’t “fix x bug” or “let us use old intent too”)

I hate it, it moves right click actions to Shift right click… And toxic people in OOC be like “OOC: Doc12693420: You can’t be bothered to learn because youre stupid”.

I’ll be perfectly clear, I prefer intents, its clearer and better documented. You want to be new player friendly, but you are pushing poorly documented systems. It took trial and error to find shift right click. Everyone already knows the intent system; is there a reason we are porting existing code from other servers to merge into Bee that makes no sense in Bee?

Do what you want, if you keep this I will play elsewhere.

I’ve played around with combat mode before and it is pretty easy to get a hang of. 15 minutes into a round and i forgot that there was a tm. Honestly the thing i am most stoked about is right click having a function now so you can actually interact a ton more with things around you instead of just use, alt + use and ctrl + use.
My only critique is that if you have combat mode turned off you can still shove people, which is quite annoying.

Also one fun thing i’ve noticed is that the main portion of people who dislike this change are just older players who rarely play.

There is always one of these guys on ever major change that happens to the server, lol.

Also, call when you find a server without combat mode.

The only issue I see with keeping the old system as a toggled option is that the new combat mode thingy actually adds possible functionality to certain game systems (such as right clicking cards on tables to flip them without picking them up).

the amount of times i picked up shit i just wanted to examine or shoved people i just wanted to check the names of.

also having to develop carpel tunnel when exploring maints or just looking around piles of items is SO FUCKING AMAZING I WANT TO SKIN MY FINGERS OFF…

I FUCKING LOVE SHOVING AS RIGHT CLICK NO WAY WE COULDVE HAD IT BE THE ONE TOGGLE SHOVING AT ALL TIMES IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE ALL KNOW THAT

also why would i need both left AND RIGHT CLICK TO PICK UP SHIT AND USE IT WHY
I ALREADY HAVE LEFT CLICK WHY IS RIGHT CLICK ALSO LEFT CLICK NOW WHO MADE THIS SHIT
what kind of demented design is this

its not too bad once you get over the right click hurdle and needing to shift right click to examine…
If you hate the toggle aspect and its copied wholesale from TG you can bind 1 and 4 to [toggle off] and [toggle on] respectfully, having a single button toggle is awful in a panic…

Will the shift + right to examine remain the same?

i don’t see the value in problematizing examine and grab to make playing cards easier

Shift+right is the most annoying part, yes. What makes it worse is that i have an unused button on my mouse that i’d love to bind the examine menu to, but bee does not have that option, so I’d have to use external software to do it (which byond also hates)

Do Keybind tools or AHK scripts work?
Though not sure if thats considered too much?

Cause you could write up a script for karate combos etc…

It’s not the act of scripting that’s nasty but the act of using scripts for harmful purposes (typically pvp). I don’t think anyone would care about the inspect menu.

I’ll look into keybin.

Last thing that worked well for me was AHK.
Pretty simple and straight forward.
You can code up anything with delays and multiple different inputs.

There is almost nowhere where the intent interactions are actually outlined, many are extremely confusing and make no sense (circuits) and many are plainly inconsistent between different items. Combat mode brings a shared primary and secondary action to all objects which overall will result in greater consistency between items.

Screentips will be coming very soon which will introduce hints for interactions (though it will likely be rolled out in stages since documenting every single interaction in the game in 1 go is difficult)

For example:

The current system doesn’t have a huge number of secondary interactions yet, the main one control to learn is shift-right click but as it gets expanded, more controls will be highlighted to the player (and things like construction/deconstruction will become more construction due to tool hints).

The testmerge right now is to look for bugs, but I plan to keep it on unless major bugs arise so that players don’t have to learn then unlearn a new control scheme (which would be worse than just changing it once). I don’t think it will take long overall for the new control scheme to be learnt as it is ultimately a lot simpler, but changing it back and forth could cause problems.

A lot of mouses with programmable buttons allow you to bind a mouse key to the side buttons of the mouse, especially if it is a Logitech or other major mouse brand.

Please tell me there is an option to disable this
