Dunno, to me the main issues were the ping on their official servers and lack of proper round structure.

MIchiru, Your opinions on clover doesn’t matter. Try it before moaning.

I don’t like multi-level maps or big sprawling maps with arbitrary layouts.

Most of the maps in rotation on beestation right now have the same general theme of the bridge being the dead center of the station with a hallway that circles around it and each department branching out from that hallway. Everything is easy to understand and getting places is fast and easy.

why the FUCK is Bridge an off branch of the FUCKING BAR. WHY IS THE BAR IN THE CENTRE AND NOT BRIDGE?! WTF!!! I DONT WANT TO RP I WANT TO GAME.

Pubby is still better than most people give it credit. The engine is funny and ends rounds really fast :)))))

Implying it’s a good thing that 3/4 maps currently in rotation are a different flavor of boxstation.

I like variety but I think functionality is more important

Goon maps are kind of weird and getting used to them takes a lil’ bit. The gameplay’s a bit different though, and that justifies some of the weirder design choices (such as Belt Hell or the mail system being more robust than tg variants which means delivery times down matter much), but i can’t fault anyone for not liking them, honestly.

They ain’t bad, but they wack.

Belt hell is the best game design decision ever made. Belt hell is glorious. The potential is infinite with belt hell.

I don’t like multilevel maps* but goon maps don’t seem to feature that very heavily at all

Also, the current standard you mention is also arbitrary, and it being a standard is what I don’t like about our current maps. I complain about this a lot tbh but most of our maps are basically worse versions of metastation.

New layouts aren’t a problem if you have proper IC tools for navigating them, e.g. the maps some servers stick in your pocket that show where each department is.

A lot of the goon maps are really pretty too imo. It’s also neat that maps have unique jobs tied to them

*the irony about multi-z maps is that they’re most common on lowpop servers which makes them feel way more empty than they need to. Other than that I don’t really intrinsically hate the idea

Michiru

Cogmap1 is just a single corridor in a C shape.

Horizon is literally a straight line.

Atlas is a circle with a single T shaped corridor attached, and is also tiny.

The two RP maps, fair enough, they’re a little wacky.

Every single other map is some variation of a circle.

How are these confusing map layouts?
