How does midi2piano work?

Doesn’t seem to be working, apparently it’s supposed to copy the formatted song onto my clipboard.

its not an mp3 player that can input any song URL. its a synthesiser that needs a specific note imput.
you can find a list of songs composed in that format here

Yeah that’s what this tool is supposed to do. Convert the MIDI files to a piano sheet.

no you need to input a sheet. here have an example

BPM: 150 (you input that at the BPM field)

You don’t get my question, I’m trying to convert a MIDI file to this sheet format using the midi2piano tool in the source code, which was used to make literally all of these sheets that you’re listing to me.

well pardon me then… your best bet is to ask from the coders

For me, the file works differently. When I run midi2piano.py, it prompts me to choose a file, same as on your video, but after hitting Open, the CLI stays open, prompting me to choose another file. If I close this window, the sheet will be on my clipboard, but if I close it before this choosing prompt comes up, it wont copy the sheet.

I also see that the Date modified for your midi2piano.py is quite old. I would update it if I were you.

This flashes for a millisecond in the console and then immediately closes, any idea what it means?

Nevermind, I’ve figured it out.

  1. Get a .midi file (preferably without a drum track unless you want it to sound demented)

  2. Run midi2piano.

  3. Select the .midi file.

  4. Open a document and paste.

Yep, I’ve figured it out. Already added a few songs to the song page on the Wiki.

By the way everyone, here’s a pretty neat tool with all sorts of MIDI songs that you can download and just run through midi2piano.

Ah damn I woke up too late to answer this. Also personally I recommend MuseScore for finding midis!
