If I wanted a hands-off approach I’d play on another server. I like admins being GMs that do fun stuff instead of just being silent overseers that are there only to ban and nothing more.

I agree with this post actually. But the common theme is being afraid of getting reported for trying to spice up the round a bit.
I mostly do it through answering prayers. Most recently I had an IPC mention rejecting modernity during an aggressive monkey outbreak. Sent them an SM “Return to Monke?” and they accepted.
Little did I know that calling the monkify smite on an IPC makes them an invisible monkey. So we rolled with it and I named them “Spirit Monke” and they went around invisibly shoving people who were killing the monkeys and dragging the downed monkeys to safety.
Good fun was had and they got killed anyway once crew realized what was up. (This was on LRP)

Adminbus is an art that some people are better at than others. The ones who are exceptionally good at it can create glorious works of art, and the ones who are not as good at it can inadvertently create a raging inferno of grief.
I’m honestly fine with either way. New situations are fun even if they’re imperfect. If I wanted to play the exact same game every single day I’d play something single player for consistency, not an inherently chaotic multiplayer game.

I remember one awful nuke ops round I played. I bought a syndie medi borg and then someone bought another one. Immediately after being told “DON’T CROSS THE BEAMS” they crossed the beams, resulting in a hole in the ship and me losing a leg. On top of that after the ship took off i got pulled into one of the holes and got stranded in the middle of space.
I prayed about how things were good before they were bad and how now I wasn’t gonna be able to help my team. I was told that in exchange for bringing me back to the syndie ship I would have to lose another limb. I took it, lost an arm and climbed into my mech so i could help out.
I don’t think i helped much but we still won so that was good

I can say that I did adminbus almost every round. Just not the big and flamboyant type stuff that you can easily tell is admins pushing an agenda to shift the round in a certain way. Events are different and shouldn’t be done daily.

add an adminbus preference toggle so I can always be valid to adminbus, and make it so comms consoles are like prayers for the entire station that make it valid to adminbus within reason

get xray, it’s a godsend
transmutations are like, entirely unessecary. Sure raw prophets and shit are fun but on a low enough pop on ash or flesh just knowing the wires and seeing realites through walls can get you ascention
if you don’t feel like ascending, which is best done quiet, it should be noted heretics don’t have a stay alive objective, and are meant to be played agressively
the corpses sacced for ascention don’t need to be of those you’ve killed, slipping into genetics for some mutadone, and botany for monkey cubes, can be the difference between a quick ascention and three sloppy murders which can get you caught
ash path is the best for a quick and easy win, jaunt is busted for an ability you can get by scraping up a few realities from main halls and public rooms.
i’ve seen reviving a sec as a ghoul on flesh path prove very useful, although i’ve never proved this myself
put the heretic stuff in your skinsuit, i got past a random search by HoS on LRP this way, and later went on to ascend.

every time I play heretic the HOS searches my boots, skinsuit, and sometimes even checks for a storage implant. It’s fucking nuts.

Adminbus is a fine balance and an art that can be quite difficult to master.
The best kind of adminbus are subtle nudges to the round that most players wouldn’t even attribute to the admins.

Yes. The best rounds I remember were the ones with adminbus. Example: chaplain religion being RNGism and praying in my d20 shrine only to roll a 6 and be cluwned. Only bad thing was I was chappy and admin went offline when during that cult round I found out my chaplain powers were taken away by said cluwneification.
