Surely you can understand that when every event requires a majority vote that a lot of players enjoy the interesting twists on the game from time to time?
If the current set of players doesn’t like the sound of an event or doesn’t like the idea of an event round at all they vote no and it doesn’t happen. Don’t try to make it sound like the majority of the community is against events just because you hate them.
As far as events go, I like my meteor rounds as anyone can tell you, usually with some specific task being given to the captain to relay to the crew. The meteor round with a handful of thief antags went pretty well until the server crashed just before the shuttle docked with station.
A completely batshit idea I had was a department war of some kind. Pitting each department against each other, though I think a last department standing thing might be hard to balance. Maybe just one department vs the station, so if it was atmos they could plasmaflood, R&D could build mechs if it was them. Kinda like validly declaring department independence.

For events large and small
One I’ve had for quite a while involves the station being pre-wrecked and the crew arriving in a shuttle with extra hardsuits and EVA gear to repair / salvage the station from greytide.
Some can play survivors, and if we really want to make it wacky we toss a xeno egg somewhere in maint.
The downside to that event is you need to setup the station ahead of time by pre-blasting a bit, It might need a new map with the requisite blood trails. alternatively you can ghost bout as admin, dropping bombs to trash it and then spawn everyone in with the objective to get the staiton integ back up to 80-90%
One that I might like is a syndicate training OP - Like newbie ops.
The gimmick is every one of the team has a bomb that’ll go off if they stray too far from the others so they HAVE to move as a team or else the timer starts going off.
Mission should be simple and brief with them getting in and back out so they don’t cause untoward havoc but still give them nice gear. Rapid fire syringe knockout guns or boxes of flashbangs, maybe a pistol or two as a treat.
If you’ve ever played assassins, that. If not, everyone who spawns at the start of the round gets put on a list, 1-x, and has to kill the person above them. 3 has to kill 2, 2 has to kill 1, 1 has to kill x. Have the players start with a note with their victim on so you can kill your victims victim.
