Every post from now on is Non varo approved

I’m 85% certain that my conduct isn’t considered “shitsec”.
Aside from my tendency to confiscate non-job related items, which pisses folks off but if they wanted the toolbelt then they should have either signed up as an engie or not infringed upon NT SPESS LAW.

Hardest pill to swallow, you never truly know if how you’re doing your job as a Seccie, qualifies you as actual Shitsec or not, unless you get Bwoinked.

Just seeing so many reports I feel encourages a hostile community.

Hide Reports from the “latest” feed, Problem solved.
Would probably reduce peanut posting too…

Removing thr common channel from headsets would increase player interaction as they would be forced to talk to people in person or message over their PDA.

At the same time it would really show how small Beestation truly is. This is not a big server. It is however, “big” for roughly two hours every other day.

Some people cough cough @Ruko cough don’t understand this.

Intercoms would still exist though. So does the newcasters. Did you know you can set bounties in it? A lot of people dont, simply because theres no reason if you can just shout over common whenever you want something from wherever on the station’s Z-level.

Yep! I hate this. Keep the intercomms, yeet common comma and expand the player base by 100% and you’ll be good. xd

But its not just me, half the times its just some secoff. I think beestation in general have a problem with taking the losses well, if its not outright ghosting as antag its LOOC salting and player reports, sometimes you lose if sec doesn’t react they get player reported for ignoring SOP if they do and are too aggressive or the player has skill issue they are shitsec. The player I mentioned above metagrudging is one person whos mentioned something an admin dealt with in LOOC for no reason unprompted three times. Maybe LOOC is just worthless.

It does 100%, you can have negative interactions ingame and leave it there, disagree on discord and leave it there. Player reports feel too personal for me and its the reason I’ve made very few.

The tragic price of trying to maintain a reasonable degree of transparency.

Its not like the game stops working when the radio isn’t working

It is more so that people want a radio to scream “X bad he kill me in Y!!1!”. I agree that common is good for low-pop. But high pop it would be interesting to only have your department to scream for help. There are also other options like the request consoles. You can request emergency engineering, medical and security help which will request everyone on that respective comm for assistance.

While that is one of the reasons why people like common coms, there are afew other reasons, such as:

  • the Prefix is just " ; "
  • when you hit your radio hotkey, usually what your Headset is by default tuned to is common, so you’ll speak on it for haste.
  • The shit people say on common can pretty often be stupid, funny and stuff you can often peanut gallery the living fuck out of or just plain mess with.
  • people will 100% just speak on Station bounced radios at random frequencies to bypass some arbitrary issues with coms, this included, why would we even go to doing that if we keep common?

Replace : with :h, easy.
(In code)

True!! I’ll give you that, but that doesn’t have to be the case if everyone is using their own department radio. In addition, add more radio keys at places and let employees of a department hand them out somewhat freely. At the same time, give Robotics one Engineering, Service and Medical key for borgos.

Hand held radios could be local only, like walkie talkies with a range of like 75 meters and only on the same Z-level with a chance of some noise.

YES. I think there should be both a maximum tile range and interference effects based on how many walls obstructing and radioactivity present.

For example 1 wall leads to slight garbling, 2 walls leads to scrambling that demands issuing repeats and using clear communication protocols like “Copy that”, "order confirmed " and “message received”, while standing in radioactive areas and behind 3 or more walls just FUCKS your radio’s transmission and reception.

The fact that station bounced radios are just headsets you can’t wear conventionally or place encryptions in is stupid

Counting walls for each message sounds expensive. I’d have it be a linear interference. With maybe additional jamming due to distance to things like telecomms (still there for department channels), SM or even the AI itself.

Yeah, counting walls would be fuckin expensive, linear would be good for both the game’s stability and simplicity of implementation.

Also making it separate from the Telecoms array would make sense.

I foresee… craptons of lag from this, sure is a great idea :+1:

I never said I’d try and code it my self, let alone try and convince some one to do it.
it’d be a really expensive gimmick and while neat would fuck shit up if more than 2 people used radios.
