Hm, these people need to stop having fun. Their enjoyment of the game detracts from mine and as a Beestation Forum Regular™ my enjoyment of the game is paramount.

Dallas was a nice man. He used to be my friend. Now it has become something else.

‘Nya’ becomes filtered, however…

…species-ism becomes a bannable offense.

CHOOSE WISELY.

Axel hawkers worst nightmare

I don’t care if Dallas goes on to continue saying nya, I just want a clear ruling on what the game defines as netspeak

it WAS all in one round! Even better is I LATEJOINED as an observer so this was all in the span of roughly an hour or so!

Edit: Also yes that compilation image was from me. The reason I made it was because I literally had nothing else to do as I had gotten all of my schoolwork done and all of my friends were offline or doing something else. I decided it’d also be a fun drinking game to take a shot at every moment of Dallas Degeneracy :tm: but I quickly realized it’d be a lethal game.

write a new book, call it “banning the word and its consequences” by Sulla Kaczynski

The removal of Golden and its consequences have been a disaster for the Beestation playerbase. They have greatly increased the ping of those of us who play on “roleplay” servers, but they have destabilized moderation, have made roleplay unfulfilling, have subjected LRPers to nya-speak, have led to widespread psychological suffering (see previous point) and have inflicted severe damage to the codebase. The continued development of Sage will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human mains to greater meta-gangs and inflict greater damage to the codebase, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering (cringe) even on “roleplay” servers.

Banning “nya” will not make Dallas stop. I hope you realise this.

Preface: The Royal Cocoon Academy of Sociology graciously funded this work. Outline of Bifasciata’s thesis below will be defended on December 13th, 3044.

Opening Statement: When I step back and think on these topics as a whole, I don’t get the impression this is really about felinids or uwu. The discussion as a whole feels more like an identity crisis.

Background: Beestation used to resemble a #chan proxy barely two years ago. It had slurs, hate speech, and teenage boys trying to emulate 4chan as their personal identities.

Now it doesn’t. I don’t think it can be overstated just how big a leap that was for the server’s identity and it happened.

It’s a lot more wholesome around here. Beestation changed and so did its concurrent audience. No, not into coomers. It attracted folks who want to play something that doesn’t feel like an alt-right recruitment center. A lot of caustic personalities yeeted themselves out in protest.

Moderating something out of a server gradually repells those who made that their identity. They had to socialize and rely on their improvisational skills. That applies to edgelords and excessive nya users alike. Unlike parroting edgy code phrases or memes, social skills and improv take time and personal growth to accomplish.

But all of that left grievances for those who stayed. If roleplay was so desirable over LRP, it must be high quality they thought. Golden couldn’t maintain population but the roleplay remained full most of the time. Golden shut down.

Its been a rejection of everything that LRP held as its identity. They find themselves on Sage or not at all. And what they were replaced by all along was not a high standard of roleplay. They were forced to face an ugly truth - their value was less than that of meowing cats.

Defeat of ones ideals is pain. The pain demanded a great honorable battle to be sung in their memory, for to die to a worthy foe doesn’t seem so bad to the dying. There was no great enemy to measure themselves against, however. Their portal of truth opened to reveal a meowing cat, not a mirror of their strength.

Where We Are Now: People are nicer and more wholesome of late. Non-human players are the majority of crew each shift.

Perhaps as a result of this the species gimmicks around for years are more visible. Catgirl go ‘nya’, moth eats shoe, plasmeme rattles he bones, and liznerd go digigrade leg. All harmless things without some underlying intent.

These are all things we could not associate with these species were they to go missing. In exchange for their power-game and species supremacy, humans accepted the duty to bully non-humans when they act weird. This is defended roleplay both pre- and post-Ruko.

But something changed in the human supremacy metagang. They stopped bullying the non-humans. Did the Beestation gestalt become more hugbox? No. I say the balance between hug and shove has become imbalanced. And not by the empowerment of non-humans, my friends.

The human mains went soft on us in their old age. They no longer bully as they once did.

Conclusions: But who, I ask, makes things uncomfortable? The humans. They did not just go soft on us non-humans. They went sweet on us as well. Too sweet.

The power dynamic is upset, and in their shame believe the solution is to delete that which draws their sinful eye. Their fight or slight response diminished.

If something isn’t moderated, the environment becomes permissive for it to grow. Oh yes, we have become too permissive. We have allowed the human players to neglect their solemn duty to point and laugh at us.

The felinid merely triggers the humans with their chaos word, as is their purpose in our lives. Will removing it stop the pain? No.

To remove it is to deny the truth for a few moments longer before its return - the human mains failed in their duty. They become an embarrassment. They are in a crisis of identity. They’ve forgotten their purpose.
