Changeling Builds

What abilities do you usually take as changeling? Which builds have worked best for you? Is it better to pick abilities as the situation requires, or just choose all of them at roundstart?

I usually take Augmented Eyesight, Armblade, Fleshmend, and Adrenaline Sacs to avoid getting annihilated by flashes and stuns, but with the recent stun baton nerfs Adrenaline might not be as important so long as you take Dissonant Shriek. Also, I think you need to purchase Last Resort now instead of it being a base ability.

Dissonant Shriek and Cryosting are near necessities if you’re going to be fighting Security. Not having an EMP on hand while fighting Sec can utterly ruin you if you don’t have a ranged weapon, and adding slowdown can help you escape from or kill your target.

Speaking of slowdown, is Strained Muscles powerful? How quickly does it deal stamina damage to you?

Also, the new sleeping spore ability sounds pretty good. Anybody use it yet?

Edit: Also, can monkies use armblade?

augmented eyesight, adrenaline sacs, fleshmend, emp are must haves.

For the 3 remaining points, Either changeling hivemind, cryo sting, biodegrade, anatomic panacea, strained muscle or teratomas.

No armblade?

why the fuck would you pull out armblade and become a dead giveaway when you could just rush a few basic weapons/loot armory/steal antique gun ect and be at worst executed as a traitor, for you to easily escape

In the short term, an armblade is fantastic. Amazing blocking, element of surprise, really robust damage & sharp.

on the long term, it being fantastic becomes a disadvantage in and of itself, as now suddenly everyone knows you’re a ling and will be much more likely to use increasingly violent shit, you will be kited from afar or shotdown by shotguns from miles away, shotguns you can’t emp, obviously.

Without forgetting the fact it’s extremely easy to get overcondident when having such a good weapon, and end up killing yourself by overestimating your capabilities.

Overconfidence is a slow, insidious killer.
