Your Discord Name (Including any alts you have):

How often are you online to play/admin? (Timezone):
I work from home, so I can be online basically anytime. I also have insomnia, so sleeping isn’t really my forte.

What changes, if any, would you bring?:
I can program fairly well(C++ and friends), and I would like to help keep Golden a nice place for everyone to place.

How old are you?:
24

Why do you want to be an admin?:
Same reason as above… I really enjoy the server and community. I would like to keep the shitters at bay.

How long have you been playing SS13?:
I’ve been playing SS13 for about 3ish years.

How long have you been playing BeeStation?:
I joined back in 2017, and played a bit… maybe about 40 hours or so. I migrated from server to server for awhile after due to my ping. I settled on /tg/ for about a year, but orange man bad(him removing cloning was the last straw). I took refuge on BeeStation, and haven’t looked back ever since.

On a scale of 1-10, how skilled are you in SS13?:
8

On a scale of 1-10, how skilled are you as an admin?:
6

Have you ever been an admin on another server? This is not limited to SS13:
Yes, currently I am admin on a fairly popular Rust server. Though that is mostly Discord admin experience. I have my own box which I used to figure out SS13, so I’m fairly versed in the admin tools. I’ve moderated for WoW private servers, and I was a forum mod for an old game called City of Heroes. I also am currently admin on the new private server that popped up for that game.

Do you have any alternate accounts on SS13? If so, could you provide their CKEY?:
SadisticSlayer, Cerebrallolzy1

Your strengths:
I’m a fairly relaxed individual. I love helping people(the reason I enjoy moderating). I won’t hesitate to teach a newbie how to play the game.

Your weaknesses:
It’s hard to tell what your own weaknesses are. If I had to say something though… I’d probably say I have too big of a heart. It’s the reason I get manipulated most. However, I’ve been around the block a few times. I can tell when someones pulling the heart strings fairly well.

Is there anything that gets you really mad, real fast?:
Child pornography

What do you think is the most important trait for a staff member to have?:
Patience… if you act on something without getting all the information on the subject before-hand mistakes are made.

What makes a staff team good?:
A good staff team keeps their server an enjoyable environment for their players.

What is a staff team’s purpose?:
To enforce the rules, and make sure as many people as possible(can’t please everyone, and if you try you’ll please no one) have fun.

What kind of player are you?:
I’m usually pretty passive in any role, but I enjoy being AI because I enjoy being a door knob. Really though, I just play to meet people. The game isn’t fun without people.

How do you think you will change once you become a staff member?:
Every time I moderate for anything I gain vast amounts of patience. I think it’s just the repetitive cycle of figuring out a story, and telling if anyone involved is lying. Hopefully, I don’t get jaded by the waves of angry people and shitters.

The clown slips the HoS and steals his gun, spacing it right after. What do you do?:
Depends on the server, and I’m assuming it’s the HoS’ gun(X-01).
LRP: If he had no previous notes dealing with the subject I’d tell him not to dispose of high-value items because a traitor might need them and it’s considered self-antagging; he’d receive a note saying he got the warning. If he had prior notes on the subject then clearly he didn’t get the memo and I’d opt for a 3-7 day job ban.

MRP: Assuming he had prior notes for the subject, I’d bwoink him asking him why he decided to do the deed. I’d give him a note, but if he has prior notes I’d opt for a 7 day server ban. If no notes then I’d just give him a warning and a note not to self-antag.

Rare or unique items such as the Wardens krav maga gloves, compact combat shotgun, or traitor objectives, are always self antagonising when stolen from someone or for no reason, unless there is an immediate purpose or need to steal said item. If the player cannot provide a valid reason, it is self antagonising behaviour.

A non-antagonist is sabotaging the Atmospherics loop and pumping plasma into the distro, along with dragging around a canister and releasing it into the atmosphere. Assuming that another admin is cleaning up the after-effects, how do you conduct the ahelp with him?:

That takes lots of knowledge of atmospherics. Therefore he’s just being a shitter. I’d opt for a 7-30 day ban depending on what he says in the bwoink and previous notes.

A chemist who is working alone accidentally mixes an explosive mixture inside of his chem dispenser, instantly killing himself and destroying the machine, along with exposing Chemistry to space. Nobody else was injured aside from him as a result of his actions. What do you do?:

LRP: Assuming he has no previous notes, and he’s new… I’d mark it as a IC issue. Mistakes happen, and we all gotta learn somehow. I’d also send him the wiki guide for chemistry.

MRP: I’d bwoink him asking him not to do that again. If he has previous notes I’d give him a job ban for 7 days, and ask him to learn Chemistry on our LRP server or in a spawner roll assuming the Lavaland Syndi base is available.

Eh. Not all admins are mandated to contribute, although they are twice as dank if they do.

I’d give you a +0.5 for your multi-branching answers. Your MRP answer for the clown situation has some slightly extreme punishment, but other than that, pretty gucci.

T: 0.5

Thanks for the input! I’ll probably start going after the bounties because some of them actually look pretty interesting. The only reason I opted for a server ban is because it’s considered self-antagging. If the gun in question was a normal energy gun then I’d probably be more lenient. That response is also if they have previous notes for the same reason.

EDIT: Ah I messed up in my MRP clown response… fixed now.

I ain’t an admin anymore so feel free to ignore my feedback, just wanted to put my two cents in.

Based.

Personally I think it’s a tad too much for a Clown, but that’s just me. Clown usually has some leeway with shittery like this and a HOS with his gun out 4noresin kinda deserves getting mugged.

Now some questions which you can also just choose to ignore. I used to ask these when I was an admeme.

  • LRP. A traitor kills an assistant, drags them into maint, beheads them and hides the head inside a welded locker in the Abandoned Bar in Meta Station. Two minutes later, a fresh assistant latejoins, grabs some tools and automatically makes his way to the abandoned bar, fetching the head. Rules broken? Wat do?

  • MRP. A Free Golem gets on the Station with a dead Miner’s ID, walking around minding his own business. Everyone is having fun. Suddenly, Captain stuns, cuffs and cremated the golem for no reason. Any rules broken?

  • LRP. For 4 rounds in a row, you noticed a pattern of a player playing as Captain, going into the armory while pulling his locker, putting every gun in the armory inside said locker and then leaving the locker in the Execution Chamber, bolting down all of Perma but leaving sec bolted open, more specifically a way into armory. He then proceeds to leave armory open and hide, killing any non-Security role that steps into armory. What do? Any rules broken?

Ya look like a nice guy and a potentially good admin my dude.

Question about Clown spacing is okay, but as Rue said tickets about clowns should be handled slightly differently, given they don’t just self-antag blatantly and want to honk.

Second question, in 99% of cases this is gonna be a griefer, most likely 30minute account that came here to just flood the station. I don’t have much experience yet but flood happen mostly due to 3 reasons.

  1. Antag with perms to bone floods, perfectly fine.
  2. AI told by an antag to flood but antag didn’t have perms to flood, boink that antag.
  3. Most often it is this one, griefer with very low hours that floods and opens doors so plasma fills entire station.
Given 3rd one is the most common you should check their playtime, if it’s around few hours and they managed to flood then it means they know what to do and perma them.

And third, if they blew themselves up in chemistry, most likely noone will ever boink them to slap a note, in 99,99% cases if they died it is just an honest mistake, not worthy a note.

Playtime is good but notes kinda, well, meh.

I’ll give you +0.5

T: +1

Edit: I’d like to see your answers to questions that Rue stated, I may change my ‘score’ based on these.

1st question: I would bwoink them for metacomms because how would he know where the head is? If he has prior notes for metacomming I’d escalate to a ban. If no prior notes I would most likely warn him and give him a note.

2nd question: I would start by checking the logs between the two. If the golem didn’t attack first I’d probably bwoink the Captain asking him why he did that… assuming the Golem didn’t do anything before hand to start the conflict I’d check the Captains notes. If he had prior notes to killing nonvalids I’d opt for a day ban or more depending on the number of notes. If he doesn’t have notes I’d just slap him with a note for killing a nonvalid.

3rd question: Third question… moving the armory is fine, but bolting open the doors and letting people in then killing them for entering violates the rules of escalation. He should try to non-lethally remove them. If that fails then lethal force is allowed. I’d check previous notes for over escalation and bwoink and go from there.

Thank you!

For the griefer, obviously scenarios can change and with that the interaction would be different. As for the Chemist, the reason I’d check prior notes and playtime is to check for trolling. Sure, they are just blowing them self up, but they are they are making the game less enjoyable for others as well. A few times is fine, but if it’s just potassium water in large quantities over and over that’ll warrant a bwoink.

As for the notes, I’ll admit the one Caecilius gave is completely valid. I did murder the RD in cold blood, and the reason I did that was simply because I was tired that night. The previous few rounds Engineer had freed me completely. I enjoy being a free AI because I can do stuff like fusion as a borg without worry of breaking silicon policy. Those rounds kinda blended together and in that moment I just acted on autopilot.
I do wanna point out I had them immediately cloned after and we had a nice talk.

The second note(with no expiration I wanna add) was me following a command by well… command. The Captain was trying to track down this guy so I did. I had no clue they were gonna lynch them as they said nothing beforehand about it. I had tracked down people before hand and they were apprehended so I expected the same treatment.

I kinda don’t like the answers and some of them show you don’t have a very good understanding of rules. But the rest of the app is good and Im ok with giving you a chance.

Feedback and criticisms:

  • I’d be a bit more forgiving of the clown simply because he’s the clown, he has a bit more leeway to be a prankster. Still a mostly ok answer.
  • Intentional plasmaflooders need to be permabanned because 95% of them will just do it again when unbanned.
  • Go easy on the chemist. If he’s new it’s probably just an accident. He should get a note at most unless he does the same thing constantly.
  • Metacomms is one of the most serious offences and so should be a permaban unless they’re new, in which case they should be added to the admin watchlist.
  • Golem answer is pretty much spot on. I’d probably be a little harsher if we’re on MRP but that’s not too serious of a thing.
  • Breaking into the armoury makes you valid on LRP, but it’s still a massive dick move by the captain. You seem to have missed the fact that the captain is probably intentionally trying to bait people to break in so he can kill them.

Most of the issues here are with how harshly to punish, not with who is in the wrong. I’ll leave a +0.5.

Thanks for the input and criticism! I’ll be honest, some of the questions I wasn’t entirely show how hard to punish on. The clown seemed obvious because technically it is self-antag to steal the X-01. It also has a chance of ruining the fun for another traitor which I would have to fix(replacing the gun). At the very least it would make the clown valid. If it was a normal gun I would have been way more lenient. Pranksters gonna prank.

As for the Captain camping the armory, I am unsure of the recent ruling for validbaiting on LRP. I saw the poll, but I can’t seem to find the actual ruling anywhere aside from it making you valid. Yeah what the Captain did was incredibly shitty, but I can’t really see him breaking any rules aside from over-escalation which I stated previously.

I’m curious. Do you play lrp, mrp, or both?

LRP mostly, but if I play Engineer I usually pick MRP due to the longer rounds.

Based. I see you’ve got hours in ai. That’s like trial trial admin, honestly. If I were still a admin, I’d give you a 1+.

I’ll take all the support I can get! I main AI mostly due to ping. I have 200+ ms at all times kek.

Answers are good; however, for the chemist one, I believe you should be more lenient with them as they weren’t trying to be malicious and were new to the job. Other than that your hours are good, and the application is good. 0.5+ T: 3.5

Have you swapped from the status tab?

Yep! I just live in America. It’s relatively playable, but combat is awful hah.

I’ll read the whole thread when I have the chance but the Tally count is off since Tennessee116 is no longer a Trail Admin.

And somewhere along the line it was just fudged.

I’ll +1, like that answers
