**Appeal Reason: I understand why I was banned, I forgot I needed to explain to the admin why I did what I did. I was completely wrong in the situation for not paying attention to the text. But there was an unknown in a gasmask who attacked me with what I thought was a double bladed esword. My response to that was to pull out the flamethrower I found on the ground and burn them. I’m guilty of wrecking the hall with a flamethrower, i just ask that this gets reduced from a perma.

**Additional Information: My headphones glitched out so I had to replug them but it didn’t bring back the sound for beestation. I could of fixed it by restarting the game but thought I could go through the round without sound. This is the reason I thought I was being attacked with a real esword.

Okay I’d like to add that something is off here.

The guy apparently also has a ban from literally a year ago, meaning they were playing back then and probably should know better. Knee-jerk perma from both is really scuffed but just the same all’s not right on the other side of the table anyway.

From the many say logs appears this was over the HoP changing their ID to some meme after they asked to be captain and was denied. Can put similar chatlogs in another post if needed but reaching post word limit from above.

I’d like some further opinions before lifting this currently.

My opinion is reduce from perma but on somewhat thin ice. Player has a short record and relatively low playtime, but that record also includes attacking a HoP for refusing to help him forge an ID as non-antag. I wouldn’t hesitate to call this flamethrower instance full-on griefing due to the scale of its use, but I’m willing to give the tiniest benefit of a doubt because the playtime is more than long enough that it’s clear they aren’t dedicated to griefing.

I admit the flamethrower was overkill and excessive, especially considering it was a toy energy sword. Hop id change situation had nothing to do with the flamethrower to the unknown gasmask, The unknown gaskmask person was not the Hop. I did find the flamethrower on the ground but also asked science for plasma. Its pure coincidence Blaze is part of my characters name, I don’t dedicate my self to griefing the station with fire lol. If I was griefing, I surely would of burned more than the person I thought was a traitor, anyone who may have accidentally caught on fire, I used a fire extinguisher on.

If you use a flamethrower that much, I find it hard to believe the halls weren’t superheated given how flamethrowers work in fastmos.

They most likely were, I won’t deny that using a flamethrower was a poor choice and I accept any punishment for it, I just hope that punishment isn’t permanent. My main point is I’m not a griefer and despite what it looks like, I wasn’t intending to grief.
I will say I haven’t actually had much experience with the flamethrower and didn’t know it leaves toxin damage when used.

I didn’t mind being attacked, I signed myself up for it with this prank. But, the thing is, the person that attacks usually stops after they realise it’s a toy and we share a laugh because the jokes on myself.

Yet, you kept coming back to the flamethrower even though you knew you were attacked with what you thought was an esword, yet had full health? You never once noticed you took no damage from a 30+ damage weapon.

I don’t know, send this man to Brazil (LRP)

Oh right my point is that the attack would’ve been fine if it wasn’t a flamethrower that made the whole main hallway impossible to go through without a firesuit.

Mechanically it shoots plasma gas then lights it on fire. Not all of the plasma is burnt up due to composition of atmosphere, hence it also polluted the air for toxin damage while making the main corridors very toasty.

With the lack of any further opinions I’ll be reducing this down to a week for a first big grief time.
The note will be staying so expect any future bans for similar actions to be much longer.
