It should be noted that this guy’s comment isn’t purely ““Lore””, as buying null crates actually invites a lone op to come and attack the station, so buying nullcrates could be the domino that gets the station nuked.
it was like 7 minutes until shuttle, it didn’t matter that much
Its mrp, the station needs to be preserved (YOUR job specifically) after the crew leaves. It is very expensive, afterall
if you want to start with roleplay argument you can also say that syndicate won’t send anyone to destroy an empty station with no value.
I mean I don’t care about the note as much as I care about making rules clearer for the future and about equal enforcement.
A) dabbing on nanotrasen and destroying a state of the art research facility which is the main control point of the nearby RESOURCE RIDDLED planet is worth blowing up a bomb
B) it is clearly said under space law that contraband is to be tucked away, not used. It wouldve been semi arguable as a normal crewmember, but not as an officer.
Station was in ruins anyway, since someone bombed some departament I think. Also this argument is purely lore.
While you are right note that many players (including me) are not following this.
I actually see more reason to use contraband as security than to use it as normal crewmember.
A) mrp
B) thats the problem
@St0rmC4st3r has stepped away for a leave, so I’ll step in and take this one over.
Ordering nulls is illegal, and sec should never be actively breaking the law. It’s powergaming and it’s bad roleplay both. Anyone else on station found with null-crate traitor items would be branded as a traitor on sight. There are great efforts going into making the rules more clear currently, though some delays have been hit in getting the process completed.
But, seriously, we need to discuss about the infamous issue with ordering null crates on Sage. Some people get off scot-free for ordering them, while others get immediately bwoinked and either noted/banned from the server for doing so
Null crates send an alert to available admins. If this alert is noticed, action is immediately taken. If the alert is missed, there’s a decent chance it goes unnoticed because the crate contents are illegal and usually remain relatively hidden anyway.
This is denied, with bloons’ input as a second opinion.
Null crates bad unless antag in almost every case. Simply ordering them dramatically spikes the odds for a Lone Op and the desired contents of the crates are illegal to own.
Null crates will not be removed from the game because they are great for LRP
