1 Day game ban appeal by bloons3

CKEY: Skyrimfan55

Admin’s CKEY: bloons3

Is this for both servers or just one? If so, which one: both

Which server did the ban happen on? MRP

Ban Type: temporary

Ban Length: 1 day

Ban Date (MM/DD/YYYY): 2020-11-08 19:04

Round ID: 23619

Ban Reason: “Helped an antag kill someone else fnr as a non-antag.”

Appeal Reason: I was chemist and this chef walks into our lab uninvited, he then proceeds to push a colleague to the ground after which he pushes me into a glass table after this he did not try to leave the room so my colleague tries to pacify him through pushing and hitting.

This turns into a big fight that i join in on and after the fight the chef dies and i am banned for the reason stated.

My colleague also stated that this chef was trying to kill him, so i think its fair to say it was a self defence situation.

Additional Information: I feel the ban is a bit unfair considering that i was not aware that my colleague was an antag at the time, and also the ban was quite quick and i did not have time to clone this body or try to revive otherwise as the admin was sending me dms.

Sounds like your antagonist co-worker successfully socially engineered you, and barring other details this shouldn’t be a ban or even a note.

You attacked them beyond the point of “reasonable” self defense.

Fighting with someone isn’t an excuse to kill them. You attacked the other player after they were well into crit and no longer a threat to you or your coworker.

Lad if someone’s attacking you in your workplace you’re allowed to fight back lethally

eh, i feel like a chemmy could have just used any number of his drugs to incapacitate chef and throw him into foyer rather than bashing in his head. Third-time he breaks and enters, soft crit and haul him to sec with CMO.

thats powergaming to preemptively make sedation chems so you are pretty much only left with punching them to death/crit

I had a pottasium grenade on me the entire fight and if i were to keep him alive he could have easily grabbed it and killed several people.

Also because i was banned the antag could have easily hid the body so its really the worst outcome for the chef and for me.

Ontop of that, the chef was an experienced pvp player and easily took me out in the beginning which is one of the many reasons for why i was keeping him on the ground.

I honestly would want to know what the chef thinks about all this, does he think i should have been banned for this? Even though he most likely would be cloned if it wasn’t for the ban?

When you are in crit, the only thing you can do is roll around the floor and slowly die.

You’re allowed to put someone in crit most of the time, but hard-killing someone ends up being an overescalation.

You gotta be practic with these things tho
for one side, while overscalation its a thing that must be avoided
a chef, chemists natural predator, someone who can stab you once and leave you so badly wounded you die from bleeding out if not recieve medical aid, someone who ussually kills YOU for asking ina too mean way for some milk and makes burgers with you

is it really fair to punish a CHEMIST (not the same for every departament, at all) for getting nervous and killing the chef who broke in with an ambiguous intent that may as well be to make bombs with potassium?

As a chemist its your labor to protect your machines and the staton from not so responsible chemists, as a fool with access to deadly weapons its… well a fool with access to deadly weapons

thats… actually a good argument

This is a genuinely awful ban, it’s a fundamental part of the game that traitors try to socially engineer other players into overescalations, create chaos that cause errors in judgement and generally subvert the order of the station, handing someone out-of-game consequences for an overescalation in a conflict engineered and driven by an antagonist which also threatened him in his own workplace is one of the most anti-roleplay rulings I’ve seen since I started playing here.

We have entire roles dedicated to causing these kinds of problems like the Comms Agent, if this ban stands then all of the primarily social-engineering antags need to be removed because I don’t know how you can play them without being worried that you’re tricking people into getting themselves banned.

This is, of course, absent any major changes in context not apparent from the thread so far.

After talking with other admins, there is definitely extra leeway in escalation when you are being “led astray” by an antag.
